“Great welcome”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Had a buffet here whilst on a tour...food was delightful with some lovely cakes, pate' etc.Outside cakes were being cooked by steam from natural source. Recommend a visit to this establishment if only to witness the cakes cooking outside and the delicious food inside.

“Stellar food”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We stopped here for dinner on our way back from the Golden Circle tour based on reviews. Excellent food. They brought bread baked in the steam of the geothermal pools and a lamb pate first. For our main dishes, two of us had the breaded lamb chops, which melted in your mouth, and another got the baked fish au gratin. Everything was perfectly cooked end delicious. My lamb chops and an Icelandic ale were 4500 altogether. good food, decent price (for Iceland--lol). Walked around the icy a bit after dinner and loved it. We're heading back this weekend to hike to the hot springs/warm river to swim.

“Great fresh food”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

All baked over hot earth, the food produced is really fresh and tasty, some of us had meat but as a vegetarian I had a beautiful cauliflower and parmesan soup with freshly baked bread, it was great. In most shops you can pay by credit card, local currency but they will take sterling or euro and give you change in local currency.

“Hearty food”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

Went here because of the reviews. Food was hearty and plentiful. We had: seafood stew -actually in potatoes not broth think Shepard pie; pony sausage - like kielbasa with gravy; lamb - tender and tasty, lamb chops - heavily breaded and in gravy. Service was friendly. Wish you could actually see how things are cooked, since they call it earth cooking, and we weren't really sure what that meant.

“Great menu with Icelandic cuisine”
Reviewed 28 March 2014 via mobile

Large menu for choice, with a wide range of traditional Icelandic meals at reasonable prices (compared to other Icelandic restaurants). Some food cooked over the hot springs outside. Not sure food we ordered was to our liking, but think that's because we went for adventurous choices on the menu. Would have liked to have gone back to try other things. The puddings looked lovely but we didn't sample. Lovely free bread muffin and dip was served before our meal.
