“Great food and reasonable prices”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

My husband had the fish burger which came with fries and I had the soup buffet. There were 3 soups to choose from and many homemade breads with different spreads. Excellent food. This was one of the better lunches and prices for our Iceland meals. The staff were helpful and friendly.

“Homecooking, Iceland-style”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We came here late in the afternoon with a large group. We each tried something different off of the menu and we all walked away satisfied. The prices are about average for what you will encounter for a sit-down meal in Iceland - ranging from about $25-$40 per person US.
We tried: the fish balls, the meatballs, the baked chicken, the fish and chips, and the fisskur/fish gratin. The fish gratin was the best liked out of the bunch with the meatballs coming in second. The fish balls were good, but for the heartier appetite who ordered it, the portion was considered to be on the small side. We liked the coating on the fried fish and the baked chicken was very good. The gratin came with some of the rye bread baked in the geothermal oven and was dense and slightly sweet. The "Sunday" cake was chocolaty with a rhubarb jam filling that quickly disappeared. Overall, we would recommend this place if you are in town enjoying the lovely hikes around the geothermal areas and along the river.

The veggie options were sooo yummy! And definitely pick up a loaf of banana bread cooked right in the earth. Nice place!

“Great welcome”

Had a buffet here whilst on a tour...food was delightful with some lovely cakes, pate' etc.Outside cakes were being cooked by steam from natural source. Recommend a visit to this establishment if only to witness the cakes cooking outside and the delicious food inside.

“Stellar food”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We stopped here for dinner on our way back from the Golden Circle tour based on reviews. Excellent food. They brought bread baked in the steam of the geothermal pools and a lamb pate first. For our main dishes, two of us had the breaded lamb chops, which melted in your mouth, and another got the baked fish au gratin. Everything was perfectly cooked end delicious. My lamb chops and an Icelandic ale were 4500 altogether. good food, decent price (for Iceland--lol). Walked around the icy a bit after dinner and loved it. We're heading back this weekend to hike to the hot springs/warm river to swim.
