“Just average in Iceland”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

Very silent and not so windy (just behind the trees). Good localization for trip to Pingvelir. Very small rooms. Very small kitchen and no place to sit and eat in the same building where is the kitchen. Wifi connection sometimes despires. Prices are different if you go without booking and when you got reservation via booking.com (higher). Tasty home made meals - we really recommend.

Room Tip: Max 2 nights stay. Go on hiking trip from Hveragerði

Stayed there with my Triathlon group for training camp. The rooms are basic, clean and cosy, with warm wool covers. Beds comfortable. Shower could use more power, but that was the only downpoint in the place. The rooms were in different buildings from the main reception and restaurant area but short between. We had ordered half board. Both dinner and breakfast were very good, all home cooked. Great Skyr dessert cake. Service friendly and one can tell it is family operated. The location is good for exercise and outdoor activities - close to swimming pools & hiking tracks. We have decided to come back next year!

For 60 Euros for a double ensuite room, please expect just a simple room with clean bathroom and a comfortable night sleep. There is free wifi access at the breakfast room so that was a nice touch. Bring along your own shampoo and soap as only towels are provided. What stands out is the friendly owner who checked us in and their home made delicious spread at breakfast consisting of freshly baked home made bread, a large selection of the most delicious home made jam, apple and oranges, cheese, boiled eggs, cold cuts of ham, cereals and the Icelandic skyr. You may park beside the room which made it easy to load and unload the bags from and into the car. There is a sulphur smell from the tap water so I didn't like drinking from the tap here.

Made up of four seperate buildings which didnot work for us. We had 2 rooms in different blocks. The extremely small busy kitchen (not too clean either with smelly fridge) is in different block to dinning tables which is not much good when its raining. Our rooms didnot have curtains only nets so hard to sleep in the summer light. The beds were comfy though. Sink in rooms which is just as well as the shared facillities were limited and always busy. The breakfast was good and varied with some Icelandic touches and home baked bread. Its ok for a one night stay and if you can , pay extra for an ensuite room and donot rely on using the kitchen. Its in a lovely spot just off route 1 if you want to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. But stayed in better in Iceland for similar cost. Place may work better if it wasn't raining.

Room Tip: Pay extra for ensuite

There are no beautiful surroundings and tranquility so typical in Iceland. But here You have a very good price (meaning Iceland "standard") and everything You need (kitchen, grill, wide yard, internet etc., etc ) for a stay not far from Reykjavik and places of interest such as Geysir, Thingvellir etc.

Although there are many guests, we had enough privacy and comfort.

The shared kitchen for guests is too small. It's just only one disadvantage we've found during our stay here.

We had a great time staying here. This B&B is established in a former farm. Although there are no animals (besides cats and the dog) there are still some farmer activities going on, which was an added value for us. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is excellent. The rooms are nice and clean, this place has a great value for money. We would definitely stay here again.

This charming guesthouse located right inbetween Hveragerdi and Selfloss off route 1 (it was a bit hard to find, but there is a sign for a right turn if you're driving south a few kilometers after Hveragerdi). The guesthouse is run by a woman and her large family run in and out of the main area, making you feel as if you a part of the family.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room, which for me was around $43.00 for a room with en suite bathroom. It is nestled away in a grove of rare Icelandic trees and is perfectly situated from numerous horse farms. The decoration and care given to the place is evident, and makes one feel at home-- even better-- the dark red curtains block out most of the constant light and the fluffy comforters make for a sound night's sleep!
