“The perfect place to stay..”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The log cabin was ideal for our holiday in Iceland, its location is perfect for all the sights, very peaceful with beautiful views. The hot tub was very well used by us, especially after a long day exploring. The cabin has everything we needed, including a good selection of films, which the children enjoyed in the evening. There is plenty of space for families here.
We found the cabin perfectly clean and well maintained, the beds were so comfortable and warm it was a real treat.
Robert is very friendly and gave us some good information, he was very understanding about a problem we had (which was our fault) even at 3am!!
The situation with collecting/returning the linen may be unusual, but it wasn't a problem at all, and only a short de-tour from our route from/to the airport.
The cabin is a 10/15 minute drive from the nearest shops, so one small point to make is that it would have made a difference if there was a welcome package, either to collect with the linen or at the cabin, as we couldn't get any milk/essentials until the following morning. Although, the cabin is very well stocked generally.
We had an amazing time staying at the log cabin and would return if we travel to Iceland again. Thank you!

“Log Cabin near Selfoss”

Lovely cabin which is well equipped and in the most beautiful setting... The hot tub after exploring beautiful South Iceland was great... Not to be missed is the snorkelling at Silfra or the Blue Lagoon, complete contrasts to one another but amazing experiences :)

“Lovely cottage but previous guests left it dirty!”

This was a lovely cottage in a perfect location for the South west Iceland attractions. The hot tub was well used by all. We had no problems with the key collection or directions. The only issue here was not being provided with the correct linen. This was corrected by the owner who arrived shortly after we got in.

Sadly the experience was spoilt a little by the cottage not having been cleaned by the previous guests. We arrived at about 3pm (having received no info on times of arrival/departure) to find a large party of 6-8 guests and dog still in situ (no dogs are allowed). We waited a good 30 to 40 minutes for them to vacate only to find that the cottage was filthy. We had to clean everything including fridge, toilets, shower, kitchen and table surfaces which still had food stuck to them. There was dirty washing left in the washing machine including towels which had been used to wipe up what I hope was food and nothing worse. There was an empty beer can in one of the bedrooms. The final straw was that having cleaned all this and returned from the supermarket to put on a pot of coffee, I found used coffee grounds and a dirty coffee pot. More cleaning to do!

The owner did arrive shortly after us and was apologetic. He stayed a little and assisted with some of the cleaning, especially the hot tub. However there was no failsafe and we were left to clean up after others which I am afraid did put me off.

I would recommend the cottage for its facilities, location, condition etc but would think twice before hiring any cottage on the basis that the cleaning is left to guests. I would rather pay a little more for professional cleaning for every guest.

Management Response
6 Apr 2016
Sorry Mark that your trip was spoiled a little by previous guests. I only wished you had turned up two hours later i.e. at the right time. Then you would have found the place cleaned by myself from top to bottom. Arrival and departure time is clear for everybody to see! If guests have notified me about wanting to come earlier then that usually hasnot been a problem. We always try to be flexible to our guests. And I do consider to be a professional cleaner when I do it myself. No always, but guite often I DO quite a few times come to check on things after guests leave and clean better if that is what is needed. That is why there is a gap between departure and arrival.
Best regards,
Robert

“comfortable”
Reviewed 30 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

lovely and comfortable is the best way to explain this lodge, we were only there for two nights so weren`t able to use the full facilities. However, it was a great experience, this lodge is very well stocked and very clean and tidy. We did several trips from here as the major attractions are within 120 km.
We had a good showing of the Northern Lights, this lasted until 01:45, pity we had to be up at 03:00 to get back to the airport.
All in all this was a very good experience and we look forward to retuning to Iceland in the future.

“Idyllic stay in the perfect cabin!”
Reviewed 11 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

My husband and I enjoyed a perfect stay here for my birthday in January. The cabin is close to all the main sights of the Golden Circle and an easy drive from Reykjavik and the airport with Selfoss and all its amenities nearby. The owner Robert was very helpful during the booking process and has provided information on everything you might need to know about your stay including detailed directions to the find the cabin, local shops, sightseeing and everything you may use in the cabin. The cabin itself is simply fabulous; it is equipped with everything you could need for your stay: TV, DVD, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, etc. It has plenty of room including an extra guest room separate to the main house and most importantly it is so cosy and WARM!!! So wonderful to come back to after a chilly day out at the natural wonders. The hot tub is an added bonus that we made the most of and were fortunate enough to be able to view the majestic aurora from there on several nights - in fact, we stayed four nights and saw the lights from the cabin on all but one night and that was only because it snowed - a lot! Even then, we had been provided with snow shovels to prevent a snow-in situation!
The views are spectacular and whilst there are other cabins nearby, they aren't close enough to distract from the feeling of pleasant solitude.
If I could improve one tiny thing then it would be a more powerful shower but really not anything to worry about!
I can't recommend this place strongly enough, I only wish we could have stayed longer!

“Perfect Lodge for family and friends”
Reviewed 7 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

This lodge is perfect if you want to see the Northern lights in winter. we saw them the first two nights of our stay. with it being central getting to see the golden circle was quite straight forward.. The photos does not do the lodge justice. The rooms are very spacious and the kitchen is very well equipped.

The beds were the most comfortable any of us had ever slept in.

The owner gives lots of information, however top tip for his directions, he shows a photo of a sign, when you get to the sign turn left then follow road for about 5km, you will see a large hotel on the left, take the next right (the road is signposted Burfell), the lodge is the first one you come to.

another top tip, if it is snowing leave your car at the bottom of the drive, as we got stuck one morning.

Wonderful lodge, wonderful country, will be going back again!

We booked this cabin after reading previous guests reviews of this holiday rental and we weren't disappointed. We were delighted in every aspect. The owner was extremely helpful and answered all of our queries very quickly. He also went out of his way to advise on car rental and other information with regards to excursions.
We arrived at the cabin and Robert was there to greet us. We found him to be very helpful and gave us a few tips on where to shop and general information, his English is perfect. The location of the cabin is perfect. It is in the Golden circle and only a few miles from Strokkur Geysir and Gulfoss Waterfalls. The supermarket is a 15 minute drive away in the lovely town of Selfoss. We had pre-arranged many excursions and found the cabin to be in a good location to access the main road...You will need a 4x4 car to get to the property if you are travelling in the winter months. We never had a problem with the drive despite the snow.
The cabin felt like home from home, always comfortable, warm and cosy which was wonderful after our winter excursions. Every amenity was here and there was nothing we wanted for. Cooking oils and spices, tea and sugar were all available on arrival. Music and DVD's were also available with a wide choice of films. The beds were clean and comfortable so we always had a good nights sleep. The view from the cabin was stunning. We loved the hot tub and found it easy to work. I couldn't recommend this cabin highly enough and would definitely return here if I have the opportunity to revisit Iceland.
