Wi-fi is only available in the lounge.
There's a cool movie theater attached to hotel.
Domingo's and Subway also part of the building.
Pillows are quite flat. Two of them make up one average (not firm) one.
Nice spa, massages are unique, would prefer a private massage to having several people in the room.
Hotel caters pretty well to group travelers, but sometimes there are too many people who need to be served at one time.
TVs have inconsistent quality room to room.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of an OAT tour. The room was large and clean and well lit as opposed to many of the hotels we have stayed in. The included breakfast was also good. The beds are too soft for people with back problems. I asked 3 times for a bed board or piece of plywood to put under the mattress to firm up the mattress. Each time I asked I was told someone would fix the problem, but no action.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river have a nice view

Hotel was overall good but nothing to rave about. Rooms were clean and comfortable and service from the staff was very good. A big let down was the wi-fi which was a big disappointment, service was very patchy and the only place you could get decent wi-fi (most of the time) was in the lobby. Beds were disappointing as they are not the king/queen beds we are used to but two twin beds pushed together. Also, at least in our room, the mattresses had seen better days. Breakfasts were adequate but the scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired, for each of the 8 days we were there the scrambled eggs were over cooked and very dry. Food in the restaurant was generally good but pricey but this is the general rule in Iceland, one of the more expensive places to travel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side have decent views over the river and to the mountains behind.

We stayed here over a week end doing the Golden circle tour by car. Selfos is a good base for doing just that. The hotel was as expected with ok standard and service. Ok value for money. Car is recommended here.

Hotel Selfoss was fine for the 1 night we stayed, and is a reasonable stopping off point between the glaciers and the Golden Circle. Its a chain hotel and looks like one, our room was clean but nothing amazing. Wouldn't have wanted to stay more than 1 night as nothing to do in the vicinity in an evening; there are better locations for the Golden Circle and glaciers themselves.

Frankly, we chose this hotel purely because of the location, close to Vik. The hotel was quiet, clean and well, unremarkable. It's a clean, quiet, unassuming place to sleep and shower. It's claim to fame is that it is conveniently located to Myrdalsjokull Glacier, the largest glacier in Iceland. Nice for a glacier walk. Also the lava black sand beach with basalt cliffs. (several tour operators offer jeep off road trips).

Room Tip: I guess all the rooms are about the same, certainly no rooms with a much better view or noisier.
