This was the most incredible snorkeling trip of my life!! Yes the water is freezing but you are fully dressing and wrapped up to be super warm! The water is so clear and it's your chance to drink the clearest water in the world!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!! A must do!!!

Truly a surreal experience from the beginning. You look underwater and the water is so clear that you can't even tell you're looking underwater. The spectrum of colors too, were unbelievable--oranges, yellows, and blues like you've never seen before. It looks like you're on a different planet. The water is so clean that you can just drink it as your moving along. And the water tastes so good and cold! Seriously recommend!

It's as amazing as it looks in the photos. You do have to brave the cold, but that's not as bad as you might think as you get a 'dry suit' so only your hands and face get a chill. Well worth it for the experience!

The snorkel at Silfra was a great experience. I had never used a dry suit before, and it is a palaver to get dressed, and quite daunting to jump into the freezing water, but well worth doing. Highly recommended

This was an unbelievable experience. I have gone snorkeling and scuba diving all over the world, but have never experienced anything like this. It's true that there is no wildlife to see and I didn't really miss it. Being in the crystal clear, ice cold water between two tectonic plates was amazing. There was a lot of preparation involved and putting on a dry suit is an adventure itself, but our guide was helpful, experienced and patient. The snorkeling itself was easy- the site is well set up with metal stairs at both entrance and exit points, so no climbing on slippery rocks was involved. The dry suit and fleece jumpsuit underneath kept me dry and warm- the only things that got cold were my hands and exposed parts of my face and that resolved within five minutes or so. Make sure you bring a towel, because your hair will get wet and the trip back to Rekyjavik took a while. This is a definite must do trip!
