I use this hotel for business colleagues visiting and they always comment on how good the place is and how good the rooms are. Have just used it and booked it again for 2 different suppliers visiting next month. A really good leisure centre /gym and great pool area. underground parking is handy as often rains in Ireland! convenient location for Ballincolig of an evening and not far from Cork city centre if want a night out there too.
Only downside is the restuarant. It used to be more upmarket but perhaps becasue of recession seems to have been 'dumbed down' in terms fo teh menu offerings. Food was very good but now I'd rate it just average.

We had for a very short visit, staying one night only, arriving at almost 11pm and leaving early on the following morning. The hotel was pretty quiet apart from some guests in the bar and given its huge foyer and bar, was a bit forlorn. Our room was a non-smoking room at the back of the hotel, so quite a trek, but quiet. Some of the corridors were almost completely dark, with the lights turned off. The biggest problem was a pervasive smell of stagnant, stale water - just like you sometimes get from a blocked sink or drain - that we found all along the corridors on floor 2 and in our room. It didn't quite stink but it was ever-present and uncomfortable. Our stay was short and we were really tired so just put up with it. The room - 238 -was roomy and comfortable - nothing spectacular. I did notice scores of cigarette butts outside the window of this non- smoking room the morning after - the window opens onto the roof of an adjoining building. The roof isn't a problem - it's very secure. We did have room service - not everything on the 24hour menu was available but we got excellent sandwiches delivered by the very helpful duty manager. I didn't get his name but he was really good and apologised for not having what we originally wanted and he discounted the room service charge. I popped into the bar for a quick drink. It was pretty quiet but again the barman was friendly and efficient. We had time for just the buffet breakfast which was excellent. So a mixed bag. A bit of a barn of a place when it's quiet, an unpleasant smell, but good food and service. I'd like to give it another chance as it seemed a friendly place, the staff seemed great, but if I 'd been staying a moment longer, I'd have been kicking up over the smell.

Room Tip: Towards the rear seems quiet.

This is a really nice hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived Saturday May Bank Holiday Weekend. Very friendly check in. There were six of us, three couples. Our rooms were beautiful. Hotel is in a lovely location. Ballincollig is a lovely town and i am sure they are very proud of their hotel. The staff down in the sp are also very nice and friendly. We could not fault this hotel. We had a lovely dinner included in our package. This is a great hotel for value and for friendliness. I would recommend this hotel. There was a wedding on in the hotel the day we arrived and you would not think there was one. No noise, shouting at night etc. Very peaceful hotel. Well done to all the staff.

Room Tip: we had rooms overlooking day care centre. very peaceful

Booked the deluxe double there was nothing deluxe about it. no central heating controls working in the room. needs to be turned on by reception and once on sounds like a food processor and drowns out the tv which is capped at 50% volume. not a double bed just 2 singles pushed together. Iron was broken. Leisure centre closed at 8.30 on a Saturday along with the restaurant at 9. after check in went for a shower after which we found a welcome letter along with open pack of cookies crushed on the floor. After cleaning it ourselves we enquired about it with reception where she laughed "with"us and said must be turn down service. Bar food was poor at best and arrived 2 minutes after ordering clearly microwaved and extremely salty. All in all terrible for a supposedly 4 star hotel although room was clean with a large bath. Only conciliation here was that it was booked through pigsback.com which offered it at half price if booked this at full price of 158 euro i would of felt totally robbed.
