“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed 23 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A wonderfully restored cottage which nestles beautifully in amongst it's own little forest.
It is almost invisible from the track which runs past it and sits in immaculate grounds which boasts a large grassed area to the front which is surrounded by large fuchsia's and wild flowers, plentiful in wildlife too with birds in abundance, quite a nice gentle alarm calm in the morning, that sound apart you hear nothing else, no traffic, no light pollution and magnificent dark skies to take in, just step out the door and look up, fantastic.
For all its seclusion, the town of Killybegs is only about 4 miles down the road, a 10 min drive takes you to supermarkets, restaurants, pubs etc, health centre, everything you need really.
We loved the stay and were very reluctant to leave, two fabulous weeks with some of the best sleep I've had in a long time, due to the silence, dark skies and that superb bed, heavenly.

These next points are not criticisms just noted observations which may be helpful:
Towels were provided and a washing machine is present but we had only two bath & two hand towels for two persons, when we had to wash our towels we had no fresh ones to use until those dried.

The electric cooker is slow at heating up and most controls hard to read the markings on.

Liked best: Setting, seclusion, amenities close by when needed, and the bed!
Liked least: Wi Fi is advertised but it needs to be purchased seperately, we had little phone signal which was good in a way but not great if an emergency occured, I was reluctant to pay 20 euro per week for it, it should be included in the rental price.

We are just home from a wonderful weeks stay at cons cottage.
A great break away from it all, really rural and a superb place to stay with our dogs, who ran themselves silly in the lovely grounds, which also doubled as great photo opportunities for our budding teenage photographer.
Gorgeous, comfy beds and a great fire, which was used as the weather was typically Irish. Wish we were still there now!

Travelled with partner and dogs from Belfast. As soon as we turned off at Hotel I just knew I was going to love it and I did from the minute we arrived! Cottage is just beautiful well kept, clean, tidy with all the mod cons, you just feel at home as soon as you enter. We had our dogs with us and they loved it, there is a fair amount of livestock around so those bringing dogs not used to it need to be aware. We had some brilliant walks great places close by to explore! The cottage is remote enough to be extremely peaceful and relaxing but yet still very handy for shops, restaurants and Bars etc! Spent the most relaxing week just walking and chilling out with partner & dogs, loved it so much only back yesterday and have booked to return twice already!!!

“A Little Piece of Heaven”

We have just spent 5 nights in Cons Cottage. It sits in a tranquil setting and is completely private. The cottage is just beautiful and the bedrooms were picure perfect with good quality bedding and very comfortable mattresses. There was a wood burning stove and complementary kindling and logs for the first night. It was scrupulously clean and I loved the large flagged floor that ran from the sitting room through to the kitchen and bathroom. There is tv with a very good selection of channels if you want to keep in touch with the outside world. There is a washing machine, cooker, fridge and the shower is very good and hot! There were steps at the back of the cottage leading up to a washing line and a large section of lawn at the front . The cottage is completely surrounded by fir trees. We arrived with dogs and teenagers and all of them throughly enjoyed their stay. If you want a break away from the noise of life I can highly recommend this little cottage. Killybegs is only about 4 miles away with all the modcons and supermarkets.

“Superb, total tranquility!”

We stayed here from 1-8 February 2014. It's in the middle of peat bogs and a small private Forrest. The location is fantastic, just what we were looking for. The cottage itself is really lovely, a traditional Irish thatched cottage. It has everything you would need. It has central heating and is double glazed. The heating works really well and in no time at all the cottage was toasty! There is also a wood burning stove and the owners provided us with enough for a first fire. Because the heating worked so well we ended up turning it off every night whilst we had the stove lit, the stove made it really cozy.
There is a tv and DVD player, the tv has full digital free view. The floors are stone apart from the bedrooms which are wood. We had our two dogs with us so the stone floors were perfect. The cottage is situated within it's own private wood so you can let the dogs out, however be aware outside the grounds it is sheep country, so make sure your dog is on the lead if venturing beyond the Forrest.
Killybegs is a 10 minute drive from the cottage, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs there. There is also a fairly large 'Supavalue' supermarket on the way into town. Their fresh locally baked bread is delicious.
The cottage is so peaceful at night and because there's no street lights the stars really do shine!
For the dogs we brought their large cage with us which they slept in at night. Which made life easy for us as we didn't have to worry about the dogs climbing on the furniture during the night.
There are a few things defenatly worth going to see whilst in the area, Slieve Leage which are the highest see cliffs in Europe, Fintra 'blue flag' beach which is just on the outskirts of Killybegs, Ardara a small village about 15 minutes away, and close to Ardara is Benone Beach, this beach is superb. Donegal town which is about 20 minutes away and St John point.
The scenery is breathtaking.
The week we had was amazing, a total chill out, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and we will defenatly be back
