“Watch out for the hens!”
Reviewed 25 January 2012

My best friend and I had already stayed at this hotel the previous weekend and decided to stay our last night in Dublin back at this hotel because it is so close to the airport. Be sure to ask the front desk to give you a room away from any "hen party" (or a bridal party). Our room was across the hall from a very outrageous hen party that got noiser during the night. We were in the non-smoking section but these ladies were in the hallway smoking. We got very little sleep and left the hotel at 5 am and saw police raiding the party. Please note that you will get a cheaper rate by booking this hotel through the Internet than asking for a discount at the front desk.

Room Tip: This is not a hotel I would recommend for anyone traveling with small children. Ask for a room on t...

Many thanks for your review and thank you for taking the time to write.

I was upset to hear you did not get a good night sleep as there was some noise on the night that you stay with us last. I can assure you that this is an isolated incident and we have since put in place a quite zone in the hotel for guest that may not be going out just using the hotel of an over night.

If you are back in Ireland again please do give us the opportunity to allow us show you the improvements we have made.

Again I thank you for your comments and look forward to welcoming you again soon.

We stayed at this hotel last jan with the prices being so cheap, it was a last minute thing also as we found extremelly cheap flights with ryan air from newcastle so could not grumble at price. Hotel is big we stayed in a clean room did smell of smoke, so unsure if it was a smoking room, didnt realy bother us though, as seeing Dublin and the sourding areas was just amazing. We didnt go to the ajoining bar next door, however did go into Swords quite a few times. Is so cheap from airport to this hotel so thats what attracted us, however if i went again iwould prob splash out a bit more cash and stay in the city centre as the price it cost us in taxis and buses to and from the centre cost more than the small break away! Swords is easy walking distance and we had a great time all and all! nice little hotel!

Stayed here in December as we were heading to a night in the Wright Venue around the corner... paid €35 for a triple smoking room. I would have prefered if we had been told one of the beds was actually a pull out couch bed as we may have just booked 2 doubles but it served its purpose. While the rooms themselves were fine and plenty of clean linen, the bathroom was not very clean and could do with a proper scrub.

For anyone going to the wright venue you should note that while its probably just about 8 mins walk its 8 mins up hill so wouldnt suit girls in heels! we just hoped in a taxi instead. The premier inn seemed to be the closest to the wright venue. There is a restaurant in the hotel that I think was open till 10 the night we stayed although we didnt try anything outselves. There are vending machines in the reception.

On arrival we were asked if we were going out and were told we had to provide some form of ID (although a credit card/laser card was also accepted.) this was then scanned and we were told that we must produce the same id/card when we came back to ensure we were actually staying there.. make sure you dont forget it or loose it on the night else you might end up sleeping in the car park.

Think we would try somewhere else the next time although we would stay here again.

Many thanks for your review and thank you for taking the time to write your suggestions.

In relation to your comments I have taken on board all you have said and will be sure to look into the standard of the bathroom. Could I ask that you contact me on my personal email chris.osullivan@travelodge.ie so as I can look at the room you stayed in.

In relation to the ID we ask for this as a security to ensure we know who is coming and going from the hotel at all times. But can assure you if you did loose it then we would not make you sleep in the car park.

I do hope you will stay with us again and see the improvements we have made.

If you are looking for a cheap, clean , comfortable place to sleep close to Dublin Airport this is a good solution. We found the rooms well kept, the beds comfortable and not overheated as in many similar places. Coffee and tea in the room but little else - some appliances available from reception. It is exactly what you would hope for from a Travelodge but often do not get.
Its a good place to stay when cost is a major issue and you are just looking for a straightforward service.
Location wise it is really five minutes from the airport situated just off the motorway about twenty minutes from Dublin city centre if there is no traffic but much longer if there is.

There are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly on Friday and Saturday it is a popular spot for people to stay after the night club which is not far away which means it can be noisy between 3 and 4 am. Secondly the road is close by so you may be woken early by traffic if you are used to a quiet environment. You can ask for a room at the rear or on the "two hundred" side which will help. Internet access - well promoted on the website but its not made clear that there is an extra charge of €5. It Bitbuzz - some people may already have access. You may want to ask for an extra pillow or two as the pillows provided are possibly the worst I have even seen.
The diner is good for breakfast with good value and all day breakfast as well as a range of snacks and main courses. Service was good when we tried it and the staff friendly.

Overall we found this a good experience. It was easy and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter. Ask at reception as noise can be an issue.

Many thanks for your review and thank you for your suggestions. We have at present looked at the pillow quality and are having this matter addressed.

In relation to the Friday and Saturday nights we have also started to address this issue and have now put in place a complete team to ensure any of our guest who may have been out are being managed to ensure that the noise levels are keep to a reduced level.

In relation to Bitbuzz we have now put in place a complete price list in each of the rooms to ensure that customers have a better understanding of the pricing structure. We do offer complimentary WFI in our public area at present and have now put in place an area to work from for this.

I do hope you will stay with us again and see that we have acted on your suggestions.

Again I thank you for taking the time to post your review.

I wouldn't normally consider a Travelodge when travelling on business but this time I was forced into it.

The check in was quick and simple with paying upfront for my accommodation. My allocated room was clean and warm. The only gripe I had was that it was not clear which way the radiator dial goes to turn the heating up or down, obviously you find out eventually. Perhaps a sticker on the wall indicating which way to turn the dial would be helpful.

The bathroom was plain and simple with the hot water certainly hot enough.

There is a diner adjacent to the hotel which opens at 7AM for breakfast. There is no facility to charge this to your room which is disappointing.

If you want to walk into Swords the village is about a 7 minute walk away with bars and restaurants.

All in all not bad for 40 euro per night.

Clean, decent sized rooms, but the beds and pillows are so uncomfortable, didn't sleep well at all, the single most important thing when staying anywhere.

It is the same in all of their hotels, you thought they would have learnt by now if they had even looked at their competitors.

The saving grace for the place is the (independant) Dawn to Dusk restaurant. Fresh cooked food and great value.

Many thanks for your review and thank you for the feed back. We have passed on your comments to Dawn to Dusk who were delighted with the feedback.

In relation to the beds and pillows we are at present sourcing new ones, to keep building on our standard and improve our product. It is only with our customers feed back that we can improve.

So I thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and can assure you the team at Travelodge Ireland is committed to improving our standard.

I have stayed at this Travelodge eight times and had a good experience each time. It's located close to the airport and has taxis in the car park at most times of the day and night, The rooms are large enough for three people to be comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a plenty of hot water for the shower.
I will continue to stay at this Travelodge for its accomodations and always helpful and pleasant staff. There is someone at reception 24-7.

Room Tip: Second floor or rooms on the back are quieter. Weekends can be very busy in the halls.
