We had a very pleasant two nights at the Highfield House in Swords. Mr. Bates welcomed us warmly, and we felt very blessed that we had gotten their last room. Someone knocked on the door looking for lodging not 5 minutes after we arrived!
We chose this area due to airport proximity. We had an early morning flight, and the B&B was about 3 miles from our rental car location. Since we stayed two nights and didn't have breakfast on the second morning, we received a discounted price. Mr. Bates kindly allowed me to use his computer to check for messages from home.
The bedroom was comfortable, but the bathroom was very crowded. I think the bathroom sink was the tiniest thing I've ever seen! Almost amusing. I did have to ask for a hairdryer which was supposedly included, but received it with no problem.
Mrs. Bates was so professional in her attire and service. It was obvious she considers this to be her full time business and is eager to please her guests. The English garden out front was really lovely and was an unexpected pleasure.
The bus stop into Dublin is practically in their yard, so with Mrs. Bates' guidance, we were able to catch the bus into town, do the double decker tour of the city, and head back out to the suburbs with no problem. We would definitely stay at Highfield House again!
As an aside, we really enjoyed walking to The Old Schoolhouse for dinner...two nights in a row....which is highly unusual for us. (Great fish and chips and cold beer on their Wednesday night fish special.)
