Two night stay with husband. Room clean and comfortable. Bathroom (en suite) clean but fixed shower head which drives me mad!

Small ironing board and iron in the room which was very useful and also, tea/coffee facilities.

Friendly staff, great bar down stairs, good food (breakfast), parking at the back. Central location.

Met the owner - lovely man - made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Glad we stayed here. Personal, friendly and welcoming.

Room Tip: Second floor at the front. Spacious and comfortable.

A town centre booking on a Saturday night. Was this a choice that I might regret? Not at all. fairly informal (which I prefer) ambience and friendly staff. Breakfast was decent and more what you'd expect at a bigger hotel. What made it for me was the waiter got me seated at breakfast earlier than advertised as I had a train to catch. Decent sleep quality and a surprising lack of smokers at the front door.

Room Tip: I was round in a side room on the top floor, so it was quiet for me.

I stayed in Gullanes hotel in. Ballinasloe in June 2014. The staff are friendly and the room and ensuite bathroom was clean and quite comfortable. There was an odd musty smell, which was a disappointment and old tired hotel decor. The table lamp wasn't working and had a broken bulb sitting loose in it. Could be dangerous! I found this to be more of a pub with B&B than a hotel but it is centrally located with ample parking, which is a plus. The breakfast buffet had no butter available. The full Irish breakfast was freshly cooked and well presented. Service for breakfast was slow but there was only one member of staff to be seen and she was also serving food in the bar.

We stayed here for 6 nights in May, having previously spent a couple of nights here 3 years ago. One could be forgiven for passing by this hotel, thinking it's just a pub with a few rooms to let, but the reality is very different! The ground floor comprises a large bar area with several quiet spots to sit & read and food served all day; a separate restaurant; the hotel reception area and a large function room for weddings, parties etc. The bedrooms are nothing outstanding but very comfortable with TV, tea/coffee facilities and en-suite bathroom or shower room - everything is spotless. Gullane's is a family business run in traditional Irish style catering for, amongst other things, Christenings, Holy Communions; wedding parties, wakes and family get-togethers. There was always something going on but it never seemed to intrude on the general peace and quiet of the hotel.

The staff are unfailingly cheerful, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Nothing, it seems, is too much trouble. The owners and manager go the extra mile to ensure everyone is happy. The hospitality is outstanding. The hotel is situated on one of the main streets through Ballinasloe but traffic noise is not an issue. The carpark is huge and is accessed at the rear of the building. Breakfast was "average" but adequate with plenty to choose from - the porridge was delicious! We had Sunday lunch here- a carvery - the menu offered a wide choice and was very reasonably priced. The cheesecake was legendary!

Our room on the 2nd floor was very comfortable and we had 6 nights of peaceful, deep sleep. The only disappointment was the size of the bathroom - it was a very tight squeeze, the bath tiny, the heated towel rail VERY HOT, and the shower was not up to standard. Plenty of wardrobe space though, good bedside reading lamps and a good-sized dressing table/desk unit. Internet access is by wired connection.

The main purpose of our visit was to catch up with family and friends. Our thanks to the owners, the hotel manager and all members of staff for making our stay at Gullane's so memorable and enjoyable. I'm sure we'll be back soon!

Ate here recently in Gullanes hotel in the evening. We had a lovely meal. Steak and Lamb Shank were our main course choices...Cooked to perfection accompanied by Chips and Garlic potatoes.
Relaxing hotel with plenty of people dining here. Would defintely recommend the food here
especially from their evening menu.

The owner is visible in the operations, and is friendly and hospitable. We couldn't have felt more welcome. We told the young woman at the front desk we were traveling by bus, and visiting nearby villages to learn about our family roots. She arranged for taxis for us to go just where we needed to, and suggested some other interesting sites along the way. We selected the b&b rate and enjoyed a satisfying full breakfast. The evening meal also was well-prepared.
We only hope we can visit this area in Ireland again!
