Food dire, service not much better and smell in our room, I don't want to kick a dog while it's down but whoever is in charge of this place would want to take the bull by the horns and turn this place around, leisure centre it's only saving grace, such a pity as it could be a great venue

Myself and my family stayed over the Christmas period for 2 nights.
Food was lovely and well priced. Room was spotless and clean.
Staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful in terms of service for food, drink and use of the Leisure Centre
We would certainly stay there again and recomend the hotel to family and friends

Visited the Longford Arms Hotel restaurant the other day, what a disappointment. Where does one start ...
The restaurant table when I came to sit down was still covered in left over food on plates and on the table, there was food on the floor and the area was a total mess. The restaurant was not too busy so there was no excuse for this.
I ordered the fish and as there were no chips available only potatoes I asked if some may be cooked for me, my request was greeted with a cheery yes no problem which was very nice. I took my dinner (carvery) with me and had to wait at least 10 mins for my chips, when they did arrive there was enough to feed 5 people, such an almighty waste !!

The waitress walking around had an apron on that had not it seemed seen a washing machine in 6 months, totally unacceptable and unnecessary in this day and age.

I will not be calling again to the Longford Arms Hotel for lunch as I do suspect there are more appealing and cleaner restaurants that theirs inn Longford Town

A friend of mine stayed in the hotel during the banjo festival and told me she has never had such bad service in her life. At the front bar they were selling beer, that had expired 3 months ago! When she asked to get a fresh bottle, the girl behind the bar told her to go to reception and complain there if she had a problem! Great customer service, eh!

We arrived and were greeted by the moody receptionist who seems to be getting a few mentions on here. She is the face of the hotel, she is the person the manager trusts to welcome the guests, I'm afaid she is doing a poor job, never smiled and was abrupt. The greeting at the hotel reception was the opposite to the greeting we received at the spa facilities reception. The staff there were all smiles, helpful and friendly. They would be better suited representing the hotel at the main reception to create a good first impression.
We were assured that our room would be no smoking. We entered the room to see an ash tray on the table, and the smell of cigarette smoke was awful. We queried this with the moody receptionist and she said that she could not stop customers smoking in the rooms!
The seals on the windows were broken so the noise from the local pubs went on til the early hours. The rooms were dirty and aged. The tv was tiny, unable to get RTE2, but we could get a Russian music channel.
I wouldn't stay there again, I would research for another hotel. The hotel is ideally suited if you need Longford centre with free parking, but a refurb and staff training are urgently required.

Stayed here overnight as part of a business trip with a colleague, first impression was that it was a nice hotel overall until we met the moody unfriendly receptionist. I doubt she's smiled since 1972. She couldn't be more unobliging if she tried.
Thin walls and noise from both the street outside (early morning traffic) and other rooms made it difficult to sleep.
The breakfast fry was salty, greasy, cheap and highly unpleasant. Neither of us could stomach much more than a slice of toast.
We left the next morning with the same rude treatment from the receptionist, with not so much as a "goodbye" or "thank you for staying".
Overall while the hotel was good value and had decent rooms, the poor service and standard of food means we won't be visiting again. Avoid.

Room Tip: Room we stayed in was in the back of the hotel, lots of traffic noise.

stayed here a Friday night.

would recommend the hotel, massive clean room and friendly helpful staff. the only thing is we asked for a non smoking room and got a smoking room whick smelled ever so slightly. Breckfast had a lot of choice. it was a great 3 star hotel but it will never be 4star because of the age of the hotel.

value for money.
