We came into town looking for a nice place to stay so we thought, great, with the reputation that Four Seasons Hotels have around the world, it should be no problem to stay here. This was a major major overstatement. I had just gotten off a plane at Dublin airport and was looking for a comfortable, quiet place to stay. Let's start off by saying that the elevator was out of order so dragging any bags upstairs would have been a problem but fortunately, we didn't have to do this. Here's why- 1)we were given a room on the main floor. Apparently, the hotel was pretty booked up the night we arrived and there was only 2 rooms available in the entire hotel. 2)We went to our room on the main floor and immediately saw major issues with the room. The room was cold as there was no heat coming from the radiators. There were numerous carpet stains on the already tired looking carpet. The bathroom had a number of stray hairs on the floor. The bed sheets had stains. 3)We talked to the manager about all of this and he came to check out our room personally. He agreed that the room looked pretty bad and actually said to us "I wouldn't even let my dog stay here." He told us that there was one other room upstairs but the people staying next to that room were in town for a Hen Party so we shouldn't bother staying there if we wanted to get any sleep. 4)We got our money back and left the hotel. We found a really cozy, clean B&B down the road.

We spent a night in the hotel for a friend's wedding. Hotel was nice and modern. Food was good at the wedding but breakfast was a bit disappointing. Room (suite) was well appointed but our bathroom had no shower! Just a jacuzzi tub? Staff need some further customer service training to improve service standards as most were very young and seemed inexperienced. Overall it's a fine hotel but nothing to draw us back to the property anytime soon. There are nicer places to stay if you are coming to beautiful Carlingford.

my daughter had booked this hotel as a special treat for me and when we entered the room we were so let down ! The valance sheets were filthy and the decor and furniture was sub standard for a 4star hotel.I went to reception and they moved us to the Abbey suite which was a lot better as we had a Jacuzzi bath but still old tv and tired and dull furnishing. The breakfast was a let down too as the food wasn't very nice and through unto my plate and not once were we asked if we wanted more tea or was everything ok Only after spending the evening in Mckevvitts for a lovely meal and entertainment that made our first time in Carlingford enjoyable. We would return to Carlingford but not the Four Seasons.

Stayed here last week on a 2 night B&B and 1 evening meal booking. Firstly when we arrived we were told we couldn't use the toilets because the water was turned off and would not be back on until after 3pm. On numerous occasions throughout our stay on returning to the hotel we could not gain access to the corridor where our room was located.....the access cards were not working. While I can accept this does occasionally happen the frequency during our stay was totally unacceptable.
On the last night of our stay we returned to the hotel around 9.30pm and discovered no water whatsoever in the bathroom. A call to reception confirmed there was a problem and that it was as a result of an incident in the swimming pool. We were assured by reception that water would be running again in about 1 hour. There was no Plan B in place for toilet facilities. Water was off the entire night and did not return until after 9.00am the following morning. Long time to wait for toilet facilities!!!
Finally at breakfast on the last day dirty breakfast dishes were brought to the attention of the waiting staff.
When checking out these matters were brought to the attention of the manager who offered no apology or discount for our discomfort. In fact he contradicted the reception staff regarding the lack of water and said it was caused by the local authority.
As a result of this experience a trip to the 4Seasons in Monaghan provisionally booked for June has now been cancelled. Never again to a 4 Seasons.
