“Lovely little place”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We stayed here at the weekend as we were attending a wedding in the Four Seasons and there were no rooms left there. Perfect location 5 minutes walk from the Four Seasons. Very close to all the pubs and shops. It was quite noisy at night due to the Chinese across the street but this didn't matter to us as we were out late anyway. No breakfast included but there is a cafe up the street called Thingy ma Jigs which was beautiful and so reasonable. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very spacious. We were in room 6 and had a fridge, kettle and microwave - perfect! I would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Room 6 - 3 beds, tv, fridge, kettle and microwave.

Over priced and freezing cold. Thankfully we were at a wedding and only sleeping there. We thought it was situated in a great place until we were woken up by drunken stags and hens fighting outside.

We had breakfast in a little cafe on the corner - this was good value and yummy.

Carlingford is a lovely place but is bring ruined by all the hen and stag parties - I wouldn't return.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the bars

Could not recommend visiting this establishment more. Tucked in on the corner of the main square, it doesnt immediately catch the eye like some of the larger places but the food will rival anywhere in Ireland. Not a massive menu but what they do, is served to perfection with two ever gracious hosts who are always a delight to chat to, even gave me and my lady friend some great tips for cooking ourselves. Havent actually stayed in place as yet but if youre ever in the area (an area i cant recommend enough either), then definitely call in to the Oystercatcher for amazing fresh food.

I stayed at the Oyster Catcher lodge with my son and was not impressed. We arrived on Friday evening having travelled for four hours. The room was spacious but freezing cold. We also stayed on the Saturday night which turned out to be a complete nightmare. Unfortunately we had not realised that Carlingford is set up for Hen Nights and Stags. We went to bed early as we had to get up early the following morning for a sporting competition. The nightmare started at around midnight with revellers spilling out onto the streets. The noise was unbearable and lasted until around 4:30am the following morning. At no time was the reception manned and there was no place to make a complaint. The total cost was €120 for one cold nights sleep. Not a happy lodger :(

Room Tip: If you are going for a good drinking night out then this is the place to go.

Stayed with a group of friends so we had the whole place to ourselves. Around the corner is the Main Street where all the pubs are and great choices for dinner. Private parking at the owners house next door and chinese and shop across the road!! What more could you ask for on a good nite out.
Rooms a bit chilly at night as only have storage heater so pack the thermals for the sleepover.

Great self catering accommodation in middle of carlingford. Comfortable. Shame not bed and breakfast, but got a self catering kitchen and cafe right next door that do a full Irish breakfast. Was there for a friend's wedding and it was just perfect. Very practical.
