“What a treat!”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

After working up an appetite biking the Greenway, this is the perfect spot to take a break and treat yourself. Right in the center of town, the Blue Bicycle is a charming little cafe offering soups, salads, sandwiches…and tea, of course! I loved the outdoor seating, which was perfect for people watching and taking in all that quaint Newport has to offer. Service is pleasant and the owner Phil was beyond welcoming. The vegetable soup and brownies are a must!

“Blue Bicycle stopover”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

called in there with some friends on way west along the Greenway.
Great tea in a variety of teapots, great range of confectionery ( all low calorie stuff, I am assured )
Liked the healthy salmon salad.
a visit there is a great reward for the effort on the Greenway.
The additional seating in the courtyard are the rear of the cutstone historical house is a great feature
The hosts Phil and Frank are a fund of information on the features and history of the area. They are back by a cheerful and efficient staff.
Ideal place to refuel when passing thru Newport. Indeed worth going to Newport to experience the Blue Bicycle

“A real find!”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

When you walk in from the street you will be pleasently surprised. The first thing that strikes you are the chequered table cloths and the delicate china tea cups! Its just the most beautiful place to visit. The food here is excellant and all locally sourced. I had the most delicious achill bbq salmon with salad. There cumcber pickle is to die for! I couldnt decide what dessert to have but went with a slice of the princess grace cake and cream and it didnt disappoint. All served with a perfectly made cappucino. You will never forget how friendly the staff here are. They really couldn't do enough for us. The owners Phil and Frank were extremely friendly and we got a tour of the victorian gardens at the back which has a delightful area to eat in. Will definately be returning to this charming place. Its like nothing I have seen before.

“Foodie Haven - Highly Recommended”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

A real gem. Family run business serving local, high quality Irish produce. This is a quaint Victorian style tearoom/café serving lunch and afternoon tea. Their hot panninis and gourmet salads are delicious not to mention the Princess Grace Cake - Delicious served with freshly whipped cream! Great coffee too which is a bonus. Their coffee blend is the same as the coffee served in Harrods of London. Just right! Well worth stopping by before a breathtaking cycle on the greenway.

“The very best Cappuccino and Cake in Ireland :))))))”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

I love cappuccino and had many a good cup ,when touring Ireland for the last 30 years. And I was very pleasantly surprised to come across this unpretentious little cafe in the small town of Newport.I asked for a skinny,de-caff,extra dry and got exactly what I asked for ,with non of the usual "best I can so with skimmed milk....."
The cakes were fabulous ,the service very friendly and it was spotless. What a gem.
Well done the two young ladies running the place.
