“Great value hotel”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Stayed here overnight early March. Hotel is centrally located close to bars/restaurants/shops. I could not fault the place, room was comfortable nicely decorated & most importantly spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly & helpful. nice breakfast & had some lunch in the bar which was lovely. excellent value. Would highly recommend.

First things first: This hotel provides free parking and it's in a town centre - well done to them! Also, wifi is free, high speed and straight in - no codes or marketing bumph to fill in. Full marks all round so far. When I arrived having booked five rooms and a meeting room, there was no record of any of it. Fortunately they had rooms so there was no need to turn me and my colleagues away but it could have been worse. The staff however are as friendly and helpful as can be and did everything to make us welcome. The bar is comfy, the restaurant is pleasant and the overall ambience is warm and welcoming with some nice seating areas for informal meetings or a bit of private reading or e mailing (for the business fraternity on the move). The rooms are comfortable but the TV is very small and in my case the remote control was not working so it was stuck on Sky News (I couldn't possibly get up to turn it over - good lord no this is 2014!). One final quirky observation: the lift is like a fairground ride with it's sudden jerks and bumps but then that's this hotel all over, a little quirky but very warm and cosy - I will be back.

I have nothing but praise! I was organising my sisters hen an had originally 20 hens, up until the day before it was down to 16 and there was absolutely no problem with cancellations and rearranging rooms! I dealt with the receptionist Laura and she was so accommodating and friendly!

We arrived to the hotel, and with no hesitation or problems just handed the keys, and to the rooms! (Which were situated perfectly, and I loved the way 410 was up the little steps as we used these for balloons and banners!) the rooms were fabulous, clean and the beds were so comfy!

The meal, I cannot praise the food, service and staff enough! The food was absolutely delicious, I think I might have to start making some white chocolate and toblerone cheesecake!!! It's not too many places where you get plentiful amounts of food! staff were so polite, always checking the wine, always making sure everything was ok. It was amazing! We didn't venture to the night club (3 made an appearance near the end I think!).

And then breakfast was perfect! Just what we needed! A big fry up..but if you were feeling guilty there was cereals also!

I really enjoyed my night, so did everyone, and most importantly the bride!

I want to thank everyone for dealing with the cancelations and making my duty so easy. It was absolutely fantastic, everyone was praising the whole thing, and the value for money was unbelievable! Thank you all so much!

Just home from an overnight stay in the Newgrange Hotel. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff at reception. Our room was immaculately clean, spacious, and had a lovely view of the river. The beds were extremely comfortable. The Hotel is in a great location right in the centre of Navan.

We ate in Rowleys Pub on Saturday night and while it was busy there was no delay in taking our order and the food arrived within a reasonable time. I had the supreme of chicken with asparagus and it was excellent. The chicken was very lovely, the asparagusperfectly cooked and the accompanying mashed potato was excellent. My husband had the cod goujons from the starters followed by the caesar salad with chicken for his main course. Again, really good food and very reasonably priced.

The only disappointment during our stay was breakfast. The staff seemed to be a bit disorganised even though it was quiet at the time we were there, with just 3 or 4 tables occupied. They did not seem to know who was doing what!

There was a nice selection with fruit, cereals, pastries/croissants and a "hot" buffet. However, the hot food was terrible. The bacon undercooked, the pudding overcooked to the point of resembling shoe leather and unfortunately all of it was cold and unappealing. The toast arrived nearly 10 minutes after we had sat down with our "hot" food.

Overall, however, this is a lovely hotel and I would recommend it as a great place to stay and it is definitely worth stopping into Rowleys for the excellent food there. Our breakfast experience could have been just a "bad day".

Returned to this hotel after 8 years........nothing has changed. The staff are very good, food in the bar was fantastic and plentiful but the decor and lack of care leaves the hotel lacking.Rooms are small but adequate and very clean.Pillows disastrous, feel cheap and old.The public areas are in bad need of a sprucing up,some deep cleaning and a lick of paint.Badly scuffed doors, torn wallpapers, stained carpets just give a feeling of gloom. This is a lovely building with lovely staff but unless some care is afforded to the hotel it will continue to decline.Good value for money but more of a functional stay than a treat stay.

Have to say I had a fantastic meal in the restaurant in the newgrange hotel. Although I live in navan this was my first time eating here. I was plesently surprised with the overall experience. From the minute we walked in the door we were treated like royalty. We were met & looked after by Michelle who could not of been more attentive if she tried. The food was amazing and I would definately recommend you try the steak it was very tender and served with plenty of side orders, the tastiest garlic potatoes I've ever had. There is no doubt about it we will be back and would recommend the restaurant to everyone.

Just home from a fantastic hen weekend I organised here for my sister. We absolutely loved this place, booked along with the Causey Farm package. We found the whole thing very good value for money with the activity, food, some champagne, breakfast and accommodation all included. The staff were extremely accommodating with a few special requests from a few of our party, they really couldn't be more helpful or friendly. They placed us all on the same corridor which was handy and although there were quite a few other parties on on the same night, we did not feel rushed or part of a production line. This really just added to the atmosphere along with some really good live music on in the bar on both nights.

The only small negatives were a cold shower in one of the rooms and a few light bulbs that needed replacing, but these are small niggles that can be easily fixed and did not deter from the enjoyment of the weekend.
