Stayed on Saturday night with family. Hotel was lovely...rooms were good size (double and 2 singles). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Swimming pool could do with a lift - lots of broken tiles at the edge of pool, mats on the floor in the bottom of pool that were curled up and you'd break a toe on! Would go back again!

my family and I stayed here in July for two nights, we had just come from staying in the Diamond Coast Hotel in Enniscrone, so I was probably expecting some more of the same...and I have to say I was a little bit disappointed. The hotel in itself is very nice, very quaint, looks beautiful from the outside, like an old castle/abbey....but I'm afraid the front of the hotel is the only thing that reflects that. Our room was tiny (for a family of 4) and although the staff were 'nice' they lacked a certain friendlyness and the place itself lacked any atmosphere. We didnt eat in the hotel as it was very expensive and menu was very limited. The leisure centre on the other hand was excellente and the staff working there were lovely, helpful and it was very child friendly. This is really where we spent a lot of our time. The bar is also quite nice for a quiet drink......but I think this hotel is more suitable for a couple on a romantic break, not really suitable for the family.

We had a wonderful break in this hotel; the facilities were very good and staff friendly and helpful. Nicely located on the edge of the town with good parking. The family room was quite small but adequate for sleeping and very clean. View from the back of the building over Abbey ruins. The swimming pool was good size and well maintained and supervised, most attentive lifeguards - very impressed with their sense of duty in the pool area and prior to use of the gym. Spa staff very pleasant and overall a very relaxing break (for one with children!!)

Room Tip: If you require a large room I would suggest you ask what the sizes are as it is an older building an...

its about an hour drive to galway so if you want go to galway book closer. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is tidy, but slightly outdated.
The food was good and the service was great. The gym is good and quite large with a nice pool.
great bar, lots of choice with huge flatscreens to watch the sport or if you want peace and quiet go to the drawing room next door or the reception area.
The business centre is rubbish, like a shoe box and you have to keep sticking euros in the box to keep it going which runs out fast, most 4 star hotels will not charge for this.
overall comfortable stay.

I stayed in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on 15th August and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The accommodation was top class and the food was excellent. On such a wet evening, the shuttle bus to the races was a welcome feature.

The race dance was a wonderful experience for a modest €15, considering the cost of a night out in Dublin. The management and staff were on top of their job and the guests' enjoyment was their top priority. I will be back and hope some of those guests who wrote nasty reviews will not be there as invariably these people complain where ever they go. Wish they would stay at home, these dull and dreary types.

Well done to all the staff at the Abbey Hotel. You have a beautiful, medium sized hotel with a nice small town ambience full of character and atmosphere.

I stayed one night on business trip to Roscommon town found the hotel quiet dirty and was given a dirty room on arrival, the management moved me straight away even though i was told at reception that there were no other rooms available.
Food not bad enjoyed the buffet breakfast. This hotel needs updating and a more friendly athmosphere. The management were extremely cold and unfriendly. Would not like to repeat this experience.
