“Long Live the King!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2011

Back in my college days, I'd go out with a bunch of friends and eat at King Pizza. It was THE place to eat. The one day, the company was sold and the King was no more.

But now they're back! The original owner's son has taken up the challenge of resurrecting an old favorite... something he has done very well.

When you walk in the door, the smell of pizza pervades everything. If you're not hungry when you go in, you soon WILL be :)

The pizza is a thick, slightly sweet, yeast risen crust with a sauce that is spicy without being TOO spicy. The toppings are as tasty as ever (my favorite being Pepperoni & Sausage) and topped with a Provolone cheese blend (more flavor, less grease). It comes to your table straight from the oven in the traditional square cut, so there is plenty to go around. The 11 inch Small can easily feed 2 people. You could go with the 8 inch Mini just for yourself, but it's not quite the same. It's still good, but the larger sizes have a better proportion of crust vs toppings. The pizzas take a little longer to cook, but they're worth the wait. This is one of favorite pizzas of all time. It even tastes good cold the next day!

I've not tried the sandwiches or salads yet, but I'm told by others they are as good as the originals. They've even added a couple new ones I'll have to try.

The only real drawback is sometimes the service is a little slow. The servers are usually very friendly and attentive, but sometimes get to chatting amongst themselves and forget to refill my beverage.

Otherwise, Long Live the King of Pizza !
