Having stayed in many 4* and 5* hotels! I can only say that this hotel could teach many of them a thing or two about service.
On arrival we were met by David, who, unprompted, informed us of all the local attractions, walks, seaweed baths, and restaurants. He did not finish there, however, but supplied us with menus of all the main restaurants in Strandhill. He then accompanied us to our beautifully presented room with large balcony overlooking the sea.
On our way to our room,I noticed an ice making machine and water dispenser on the ground floor, off the reception and for use of all clients.
Tea and coffee with biscuits is also available, all day near the reception
Rooms are large, warm, (thermostatically controlled) comfortable, beautifully furnished and so so clean. Although opened three years, I felt that we were the first guests to this hotel. There is ongoing maintenance which is evident in the pristine condition of the walls and carpets throughout.
All mod cons were supplied in the bedroom, including a safe deposit box (no charge) fridge, hair dryer, tea/coffee facilities, flat screen TV with DVD player etc etc it was just so lovely to fall asleep listening to the waves in the distance. And yes, the bed was King size and so comfortable with lovely duvet and pillows
Bathroom was of the same standard with good supply of soaps, shampoos etc.Towels were thick and fluffy.
Breakfast was described as CONTINENTAL, but this is a gross UNDERSTATEMENT. A full range of cakes/ breads/pastry, sat beside fresh fruit, juices, various cereals, cold cuts of meat and cheese, yogurts and freshly boiled eggs. Interestingly a shelf was dedicated to coeliac foods, including cereals and bread. A specially designated toaster was clearly marked for coeliac use only. Where has anyone seen that before?
Lisa on reception was another real asset with her cheerful smile and helpful attitude. One had the impression that staff here just love their job and their mood is infectious.
Our only criticism, and it was not of the hotel, was the amount of fouling from dogs on the streets and approach to the beach. We could barely take our eyes off the pavement in case we stepped on it. I just can't imagine someone walking onto the lovely carpets in the hotel with their shoes covered in this stuff.
And the added bonus was the price at €99 it was a steal.
You will not regret visiting this lovely hotel in this beautiful area.
