My wife and I stayed in this Amazing Hotel for a two night stay and absolutely loved everything about it!! The main restaurant wasn't even open on the nights we stayed as it was Sunday and Monday but the food served in the Bar area was absolutely wonderful!!
The setting of this hotel is unbelievable, set perched upon a cliff face as it is and the design external and interior is beautiful and very well maintained and immaculately clean too!
Location wise, everything about the area from the authentic sleepy village to the dramatic cliff walk it was perfect for a relaxing and romantic break.
Wherever you are in the hotel you are looking out on a most dramatic bay. As the Hotel manager says in his promotional video it really is like being on an ocean liner, without feeling sick!!
We both enjoyed relaxing buy the pool looking straight out to sea and had the most wonderful massage in the spa.
The Hotel manager is a true hospitality professional but more important every staff member has the self same trait. Exceptionally professional but equally friendly and warm!
Can't wait to go back!!

Having wanted to visit the Cliff House for so long, I thought it surely could not live up to expectations.....how wrong I was! It was even better! Beginning with a call beforehand to know if it was a special occasion, all details were thought of here. We were upgraded to a Balcony Suite and it was just amazing! A separate living room with superbly comfy couch and generous lounging chair to soak up the views at either side of the room...two balconies overlooking the bay, a bathroom that was Wow and all the high tech items you would expect at this level! We didn't use the outside jacuzzi but it looked inviting overlooking the vast ocean, we did do the cliff walk and Do Not Miss this! It takes about 50 mins at a leisurely pace and is just superb with amazing sea views and historic features! The hotel provides Wellies but bring your own tried and trusted walking shoes! The manager was very much front of house and visible all round the place....hence standards are always tip top....he checked us in, it's refreshing to see a manager do such 'menial' work! I must say it was nice not to be immediately asked to swipe the credit card which is usually the way and is something that is quite annoying! Check in took all of twenty seconds ... a record and it was great.....then a quick tour of he hotel which again was a nice touch as it is quite spread out!
We ate in the bar as the restaurant does not open on Mondays and Tuesdays and it was nice...two courses for 34.50 but it would have been nice to see a menu with just one course rather than the two or three courses at 39.50.
Are there any faults as it seems the manager personally answers each of these reviews?Well..... And I am slow to mention them as the whole stay was really amazing but in the interests of improvement and helpful suggestions, here goes! The pillows certainly need to be dumped and replaced...they may have once been good quality but have squished down and are not really functional and quite uncomfortable!
The second suggestion is in relation to breakfast and I was soooo looking forward to it as the room experience was so great... Sadly it was a bit of a let down! There is a sense of occasion in going up and seeing a lovely display of fruit, juices, breads etc but here the fruit was brought to the table.....nothing at all on display....small bowl of tiny bits of fruit, hard to name it was so small.... The breads came in an afternoon tea cake tier and were lovely, a very small pot of tea which wasn't replenished until we asked...but you do feel a bit like begging to be asking all the time for more of things.... The full Irish is on order, I don't really object to that as you'd like to think its freshly cooked but can it really be after two minutes? We had to send back the sausages which were just one step short of an 'oink'! Yes they were back in two more minutes with barbecue like marks and still not very nice! I was so disappointed with the breakfast....where was the choice of sausages, surely there are good locally made ones? Surely there is free range pork nearby to source the rashers? The famous Waterford blas could have made an appearance.... Lots of room for chef like imagination and I'm sure it would make another good book!! The full Irish was a sad let down!
But please don't let this out you off staying in such a fantastic place...it's way better than the breakfast and thankfully way way classier!

Room Tip: Splash out when you are going here as its not a place for cheap rates....go for the suites! You won...

Dear Mskeo

Thank you for your superb review! Really delighted that you enjoyed your stay, for the most part. We have taken on board your comments regarding the pillows and breakfast. As it happens the sausages and bacon are supplied by Twomey's butcher in Youghal so they are as local as we can get!

Looking forward to welcoming you back again sometime.

Kind regards

We took a Suite / Meal package for one night at €400. The Suite was excellent , very well appointed however it could do with a painting in the near future . Location is superb and worth the journey down. Hotel is very well insulated and cosy. Staff from our first encounter at reception were excellent, courteous and utterly professional all round. Meal at the Michelin star restaurant was reasonably prices itself although all starters were cold except one. The menu was a little fussy with weird items appearing on the plate all in one big mixture. Portions were reasonable however......BUT this is where the praise stops. The wines were nothing but overpriced, nothing special as a HALF bottle of very ordinary white was €31, then another at €32 . Overnight stay is about €280 which is a tad overprices. Breakfast was excellent , bright and well appointed. Televisions in the Suite were good and the in house movies were at a reasonable price. The Spa and pool areas were very good as well. If you wish to give yourself a treat then the Cliff House it is BUT prepare yourself to pay a high price. Some might say it was not worth it............... It is a treat however !

It is very hard to fault this hotel on the basis of our two night stay. The bedroom was superb, the staff uniformly efficient and friendly, the food excellent in both quality and quantity. My wife said the spa massage was the best she had ever had. The location is stunning. Having said all of that, the prices charged are extremely high; we were there for a special occasion so didn't think too much about it but were amazed that in times of austerity so many others seemed to have decided to spend so freely. Our only grey mark: surely in a double room with a double bed there should be a double mattress, and not two twins strapped together?

Room Tip: All the rooms are sea facing with superb views.

Dear diandjj

Thank you for your review and glad that you enjoyed your stay despite the price. We believe that we offer value for money and thankfully are busy as a result.

Our beds together allow us the flexibility to offer our guests a twin room or a double room which a pure double unfortunately does not.

Yours sincerely

We stayed at the Cliff House Hotel on Friday 18 October. It was a dreadful day but the warm welcome from the staff and the fabulous pool facilities more than made up for it. The outside Jacuzzi a real treat. The rooms are very nicely finished; you cannot imagine yourself wanting to leave the comfort of the room, the luxury of the bathroom or the sea-view balcony to re-join the real world.
However, the dinner was extremely disappointing. Both meals were tasteless and bland. I choose Helvick Cod and my husband chose Steak, should have been easy enough. Service was extremely slow. We waited 30 minutes to order dessert which was overcooked. Then another 35 minutes to try to order coffee which is not included with the meal and seems quite mean. It would appear that they are unable to cope with the smallish wedding that was also there, the restaurant and the bar food. There seemed to be quite a few staff but not very much direction. I had expected an attention to detail which seems to be missing. Such a shame as this has taken away from the whole experience.

The breakfast is lovely which is served with a lovely sea view. The area around the hotel is well worth a visit. I would advise just staying here and eating locally or in Dungarvan.

Room Tip: The rooms have a sea view and are very nicely finished, you cant go wrong really.

We recently stayed for our anniversary and my husbands birthday. Spending as much as we did for one night we expected a "wow" experience. We arrived and were welcomed into a handicap accessible room. It's great that they offer accessible rooms but it was a big disappointment that we paid the same amount and had a permanent seat in the middle and bars that wouldn't stay up making it difficult to shower along with hitting your leg constantly. The entire bathroom, tub, and shower were covered in bars and emergency pulls along with a sink that we had to bend down to use. There was also hairs in the bathtub. We confronted reception about this and told them we would not have booked this room if this were the case and were told it was most likely because we booked online and only a week ahead of time...not the response we expected.
Dinner was overpriced for what we received.
A disappointing anniversary and birthday evening.
