Stayed for one night deal in June 2014.
very impressed with everything .Room was beautiful even if it was a trek to find it but what can one do when the hotel was built into a cliff !! We had a lovely balcony and the sun did shine for us.
Food was really super. The 3 breads on the table were amazing .Your baker knows his trade . Dinner was an occasion with each course being individually crafted.
service was beautiful without being intrusive .
After dinner we went to the bar for a drink but thought there was little atmosphere there.
this is a magnificent hotel and well worth a visit for that special occasion.
I did think that breakfast was not of the same very high standard as dinner the previous evening

Room Tip: Room with a balcony is a must during summer months.

I think the selling point for the Cliff House is certainly the location. Peace just settles over you when you arrive (after the very narrow approach which was a little tricky for drivers used to driving on the other side of the road). The views are spectacular with changing light making the view mesmerizing. The service was quite good except in the bar restaurant where it was very personable, but slow at times due to the number of tables both in and out on the patio to serve. The food was good but not memorable.
We did not eat in the House Restaurant which, as they will frequently remind you, has a Michelin star. The cost was too high (95 euro for the tasting menu/145 euro with wine, and 70 euro for a three course dinner without wine) and the menu on display showed the food to be a little too fussy for our taste. When I see a menu that still features "foams" I usually pass. And I think it is still acceptable to call "beef tea" bovril except maybe on Michelin star restaurant menus. All in all, that sort of food doesn't really interest us.
I gave the hotel a very good rating despite the culinary issues because of the eager service and location. It just can't be beat. And you can go down to the village to the Whitehorses Restaurant for dinner and have a proper meal.

Dear PamS123

Thank you for your review.

We appreciate your comments but please know that the menu does not feature any foams and our Beef Tea is certainly not Bovril.
We are proud of our Michelin accolade - being one of only eight restaurants in the whole country to have one star - so my apologies if we over egg the custard on this one but I take your point.

Yours sincerely

This hotel could sell its self on the views alone. my husband and I went there on a two night mini break to recharge the batteries. It lived up to every promise. the weather certainly helped. the views from the terrace were amazing, we felt you were on board a cruise liner, clear blue seas and distant shore line. The pool was great as was the outside hot tub overlooking the sea. we ate in the bar and the food was amazing, the service great without being pretentious. beds were extremely
Comfortable. Plenty of soft fluffy towels in the large bathroom. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a short break, pricey but worth it.

Room Tip: A suite is wonderful if you can, but all rooms have great views.

We had a lovely lunch in this beautiful hotel with a spectacular view, perched on the cliff-top overlooking the sea. It was a fabulous sunny warm day in May. You don't get too many of those in Ireland!

I stayed here with my family a couple of times and I have to say, it's the best please I've ever visited... The staff were so welcoming, helpful & polite, the pool was AMAZING! Then there was the food, I had the scallops to start, OH MY GOD! Nicest piece of fish I've ever tasted.... Cooked perfect! But the pork I had for my main was the nicest dinner I've had in years.....! I'm. Returning here next week and can't wait. This place never failed to let me down!

OMG- what a beautiful place setting for a hotel! It is right into the cliff with an amazing view over the bay. Now, they could just leave it at that BUT we also experienced the best service and all around pampering experience to go along with it.

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a very nice suite- the room was so amazing I just wanted to move in and never leave! Beds were comfy, it was quiet except for the sound of the water, and the little touches in the room made it exceptional.

The indoor pool over looks the water- the outdoor hot tub is a nice plus and you enter these through the spa. So as you go you are already beginning to relax.

There is not a bad view from any seat in the restaurants! We had an excellent dinner in the pub and breakfast that came with the room was something special too!

The hotel is a bit quirky to get around due to it being built into the cliff- but that adds to the charm! We were able to access the cliff walk from the hotel which made for a nice morning walk before breakfast.

We have stayed in top end hotels in New York, Chicago, Scottsdale and other places but we both said this was one of the best experiences we have had!

Room Tip: As long as you have a view I don't think there would be a bad one!

Had a lovely lunch here a few days ago with friends.
We got a lovely seat outside in the sunshine overlooking the sea.

Food was amazing I had crab claws and a glass of prosecco followed by the chocolate fondant and panacotta to share!

Couldn't fault a thing the staff were very friendly and efficient would definitely return!
