We visited Belvedere House last Christmas for the Narnia/Santa through the wardrobe experience. We enjoyed it so much that we went back later in the year and walked around the grounds. I had promised myself that we'd go back in the summer so today was the day.
We paid €16 for one adult and two children over 3 and one dog - free. It was an hour's drive from Dublin's M50 Junction 11. There is a toll on the M4 of €2.90.
We started with a walk towards the lake (Lough Ennell) and then on to the Narnia related attractions - the Folly where you'll find Aslan, The Beaver's House on the river, the witches lair (Ice cave) and we visited the fairy garden and swung on a rope over a little stream.
We headed back to the cafe for lunch. The boys has Chicken Goujons and chips and I had a panini and coffee. The food was good and reasonably priced. There is a pet waiting pen where we left Charlie while we ate. He had water and shelter from a passing shower.
Afterwards we took to the playgrounds, animal area and then wandered around the grounds of the house. I think we spent about 4 hours there and we didn't get to the walled garden.
Belvedere house is worth the drive and the entrance fee. Bring a picnic (plenty of tables) or eat in the cafe. There is also a little shop selling gifts and toys. It's well maintained and serviced and worth the drive and fee.
