We spent just a night in Mornington back in August. There is nowhere else in Ireland where you can enjoy this standard of cooking in similarly comfortable and beautiful surroundings of an Edwardian lakeside gem. Anne is a world travelled Cordon Bleu trained chef. Warwick does the best breakfast in Ireland. Both excel in great conversation. We came home with pots of homemade chutney made with fruit and vegetables from their Victorian walled garden. We would love to go back.. soon.

Full of high end old world charm. Warwick and Anne were most welcoming and friendly. We turned up on spec but this was not a problem. The room was huge, quiet and peaceful with lovely views over the estate. No distractions like TV or wi-fi. The perfect place to get away from it all. Warwick knocks up a wonderful breakfast and we loved talking to Anne about the history of the house and their family. Highly recommended.

My husband and I loved this B&B. Our room was fantastic - one of the biggest rooms I have had on any vacation. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was huge. It has the charm you are looking for in a B&B - high ceilings, privacy, great views, nice furnishings. We had tea and cakes in the drawing room upon arrival. Breakfast was great and we had long chats with the very helpful and charming hosts. We had a nice walk around the garden and a visit with the resident donkeys. It is a great area with lots to see. We stayed two nights and visited Tullynally Castle, Loughcrew passage tombs, and Fore Abbey. All were great sites and we had great dinners at Weirs in Multifarnham which is right down the road. Belvedere House is also nearby but we didn't have time visit that. We drove around the surrounding villages and they were very charming. We passed a number of castle and monastery ruins in the area - it is very scenic. I highly recommend this B&B. It is about 1 hour from Dublin as well,

Room Tip: We chose the East room which is in the front of the house. It has great views and is huge.

My wife and I have just returned from a short holiday in Ireland. We had booked into Mornington House for our last night before returning. A BIG mistake. We should have booked TWO nights not one! The standard of hospitality was superb, not only was the room spacious and light; the bed was very comfortable and had real linen sheets. What a luxury!
Dinner was excellent, with a lovely home-made soup, home-grown potatoes and with smoked salmon and a roast rack of Irish lamb as starter & main courses respectively. Breakfast the next day was a full Irish with home-made wheaten bread and fresh fruit that included home-grown cherries and plums.
In a word, it was perfect. Would we stay again? Yes!

My sister and I spent a delightful few days in this hidden gem. After negotiating quiet country roads and a long winding driveway we found our home away from home for the next few days. Spacious bedroom and bath with lovely linens. Our breakfasts, prepared by our host Warwick, were excellent and we very much appreciated Anne sharing her knowledge of local history with us. Our stay couldn't have been nicer!

Just home from a few days away. Found this place on our travels. A little "hidden Ireland" treasure of a B&B tucked away in Multyfarnham near Mullingar, filled with warm old-world charm and character. Scattered with wonderful antiques, original fittings and artwork, there's a lot to like here. They grow a lot of their own produce in the wonderfully maintained gardens and although I didn't get the chance to try dinner (I was assured by another guest that it was superb), I can vouch for their breakfast being one of the best I've had. I'd love to see more places like this do well in Ireland. It's so much nicer than a sterile hotel. Highly recommended for a fun quirky get away. Props to proprietors Ann and Warwick who run a tight ship and dispatched us down the road with a jar of their homemade jam. Highly recommended. Check out www.mornington.ie for more.

After booking this B&B through TripAdvisor, I visited the Mornington website and got really excited about our stay. The house has history, but lots of places in Ireland have lots of history. What makes Mornington special are its hosts, the O'Haras. They are warm and inviting and knowledgeable about the house, the estate, and its place in Irish history.

We were a group of four, my husband, myself, my mother-in-law and her husband. Both rooms were HUGE, with comfortable beds, beautiful linens, and great bathrooms. Warwick served coffee and tea upon our arrival. Walking around the grounds was relaxing fun, and we got to meet Adam the gardener and his dog Dexter. Breakfast in the morning was a traditional Irish breakfast, which we had only had before in a hotel buffet situation. Pancakes, yogurt, fruit, bacon, eggs, freshly squeezed juice, and black and white pudding (which we LOVED!). We didn't eat again until dinner time.

We only stayed one night, but I wish it could have been longer. This is the Ireland we came to see, and I feel lucky to have experienced it with the O'Haras at Mornington House.
