“Big improvement..it's great”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Firstly I stayed here as part of a business convention in 2011 and thought it was very mediocre service wise , I had to unexpectedly stay in the area the other night so it was a late reservation so wasn't expecting much , but got a very warm welcome and was told the car food was finishing at 9 etc, eat in the bar it was really nice and served by lovely staff ...I would If anyone's interested recommend the home made ice cream. Room and wifi were fine , the only thing in the room was the shower as seen previously on this site the hot and thecold are in reverse ...this can be hazardous as I was nearly scalded ! Breakfast was excellent and little things at breakfast make a huge difference i.e. I was handed a basked of toast with the tea ( this makes a world of a difference rather than having to queue or stand at toaster machine putting bread in and out about until its actually toasted !!!...other hotels should take note) there was a good selection at breakfast and again for once the hot items were freshly cooked ( another point other hotels in the area could take note of ) over all a very pleasant experience and I'll be back ,

Just home from a 2 night DBB stay with my husband. Very spacious room, most comfortable bed. Large en-suite and great selection of toiletries. Good choice from dinner menu, meal very tasty. Very friendly and attentive staff, especially Julie on reception. Only negative was Wifi reception, very spasmodic in areas. Despite that,we would definitely stay here again.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and I will certaintly pass along your kind comments to the staff and especially to Julie. I take on board your comment regarding Wi-Fi offering as being "spasmodic" which is quite unusual as we have invested heavily in Wi-Fi recently and will investigate this with our provider. We hope you and your husband enjoyed your time in Mullingar and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future. Kind Regards, Matt O Connor Managing Director

Stayed recently on a DBB package. I used the pool and foot spa and my husband made use of the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The leisure facilities were excellent. Nice bar and screens to watch sport. Had a lovely meal in the Terrace Restaurant. However, all the positives were marred by faulty plumbing - the shower was plumbed back to front and this was only discovered after running the shower for 15 mins at the hottest temp to no avail and I had to abandon my shower as our dinner reservation time was near. When my husband went to reception to tell them about our problem the receptionist suggested we try turning the handle towards the cold direction to see if the water got hotter, which did end up working. Though at this stage we had to go to dinner in the restaurant unshowered. I raised the issue again at check out as there is a real danger to someone to get scalded if the further towards cold you turn the handle the hotter the water gets especially if it's a child. I am 9 months pregnant and consider myself lucky that it was ice cold water I got blasted with instead of the alternative. I was advised at check out that this plumbing problem would be raised with maintenance but that this is not just a problem that affects the room we were in but that it is an issue in a number of rooms and has been since the hotel opened (in 2003!!) if this information is true then there is an element of neglect on the hotel's part which needs to be addressed urgently.

Thank you for your feedback in regards to your recent stay at the Mullingar Park Hotel. I was sorry to read that you were disappointed with some aspects of your stay but appreciate the positive comments you gave us regarding our restaurant, bar and leisure facilities. I take on board your comments regarding the plumbing and will address these issues with our maintenance department and am disappointed it was not addressed while you were in house which is our normal service procedures.
I would like to give you my personal assurance that the statement you heard from a member of staff that these problems exist since 2003 is not correct. I regret your disappointment and hope you will return in the future, as we would welcome an opportunity to restore your faith in us . Kind regards Matt O Connor Managing Director

We ate at the Chinese one night next to the hotel which was great lovely would reccommend. you can get to it without leaving the hotel just go pass the lesire centre and theres a door into it!! The food at the hotel was great we ate at the resturant and the bar as well as breakfast and we didnt have to go out looking for food in the town. The hotel is a 5 min taxi drive into the town which cost 9E each way.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 225 which did have a noisy fan outside when the window left open over night would...

The hotel has a nice reception area and excellent staff behind the counter. I arrived in a rush, they took all my bags and left them to the room for me , allowing me and my family to get going again.
The room was a little smaller than expected but perfectly adequate. We used their pool and as in the rest of the hotel, the staff made it all the better.
Overall, this could be a soulless place but the genuine helpful good nature of the staff turns it into a lovely place to stay.

This is a really nice hotel. It is very modern and spotlessly clean. Beautiful lobby adorned with fabulous floral displays and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are chic and spacious. The food is excellent. Bar food is particularly good. Bar staff are very friendly and efficient. The leisure centre is lovely. The gardens are very picturesque and open out from beside the function rooms. The hotel is only a five minute drive to Mullingar town (20 min walk) There is also a gorgeous Chinese restaurant in the grounds. Ample free parking.
