Mary and I had a lovely meal in the Rusty Spoon last week. We were sad to see the previous occupants of the premises go out of business last year, but the new owners have done a wonderful job with the décor and ambience of the restaurant. We shared a bruschetta to start with and it was excellent, more than enough for 2. In fact this was a recurring theme of the place, all the portions were so large that we could have ordered on1 starter and one main between two and have plenty to eat. Mary ordered the fish and chips. Sounds boring but the main arrived with two lightly battered pieces of Cod, home made chips in a basked made of grease proof newspaper and accompanied by a portion of mushy peas with mint. The fish portions were so large that I had to share one with Mary or she would have no chance of finishing this delicious meal. I ordered pizza, the all meat variety and it was delicious and served on a ultra-thin base. We struggled to eat all the food and sad to say I had to leave a large slice of pizza. Nice sauvignon blanc white to wash it all down. Good value and definitely worth a revisit. Nice staff as well.
