OK, so this one is a very modern hotel, popular with groups, and lacking in charm as it stretches wide in its grounds along the roadside? But, having stayed in quite a few places in Norway where the charm was so overwhelming it burst your ear-drums, but where bedroom space was at a premium, this hotel was a delight to spread ourselves into. The location is attractive beside the gushing river, with views of the mountains beyond, the staff friendly and attentive, the food prompt, well-presented and tasty, the ambience the usual for a modern hotel, and the bill accurate! Breakfast was a bit of a free-for-all as our visit coincided with the groups, but there was a very good choice and it was fresh. A very comfortable one-night stop.

Room Tip: Our room was on the road side of the hotel, but it was quiet. Ask for one close to Reception as, wi...

I have stayed at Loenfjord Hotel on several occasions, it still draws me back and is just as good as it was a few years ago. Its location is perfect for day trips to the Glacier and to Geiranger. Breakfast and Dinner buffets are excellent and the staff so helpful. There is ample free parking and Wi Fi is also free. The rooms are clean and comfortable but no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, that is quite usual for Norway though. There is a small grocery shop/post office across the road. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in this region of Norway

This is a lovely hotel. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Our room had a view of a stream and snow capped mountains. Breakfast and dinners were exceptional. Negatives- no safe in the rooms, no shampoo supplied, and no coffee facilities in our room. You have to buy coffee at the bar. WiFi was hit and miss and not available in our room. This is a nice place to stay for a night or two.

We stopped by Loenfjord Hotel as part of our road trip through Norway and check-in was quick and efficient, while the room was comfy. I really enjoyed the great view out our large windows to the rushing river and the mountains beyond. For Norway, the price was reasonable and breakfast was sufficient.

Room Tip: get a room with a view towards the river. You won't regret it

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Loenfjord for 4 nights while we explored the nearby national parks and fjords. We had a very nice stay. The room was spacious (for Norway's standards) and comfortable. The heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch, though they took quite a while to warm up. The hotel is in a beautiful location right on a river that flows out to the fjord. We had a room facing the water and it was nice to listen to the flowing water with our windows open. The hotel staff was extremely friendly, including the hostess at the hotel restaurant. We dined at the hotel restaurant 3 of the nights and the food was good. There was also a buffet on the 2nd floor, but we did not try it out. There was also live music in the lounge almost every night that was also very enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was fantastic with many different options. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room facing the water is very nice.

The immediate impression on entering this hotel is that it is not as "posh" as its sister hotel The Alexander but it has the advantage of being right next to the fast flowing river that flows into the fjord. The view from our bedroom overlooking the river was fantastic. The room was of a good size and the beds were comfortable. There was no mini fridge and I hate to think how expensive the drinks would be in any case. Norway is very expensive for us Brits and the hotel prices for wine were somewhat steep to say the least, but that's Norway. The cleaner was efficient and often cleaned our room whilst we had breakfast. There is a small supermarket in the village where you can purchase beer but if you want wine or spirits you have to get the bus to Stryn [about 10 minutes journey]. Buses are not too frequent but they seem to run on time and the drivers are helpful and seem to all speak English. There are lots of walks in the area and waterfalls abound. We stayed at this hotel for a week but most guests seem to be passing through, either individually or as part of a tour group. The "resident" guests have their own section of the dining room and if you want to avoid the sometimes noisy tour groups who all arrive at once [all share the same buffet] then the rule is eat late for breakfast and early for dinner. As regards the food itself, after you have been there a few days you realise that the food on offer does not vary much from one evening to the next and presumably that is because so few people stay more than a couple of nights. However, the food was plentiful and we just about managed to last the week without getting too bored with the menu. Breakfast was OK with plenty of choice unless you want full English breakfast! They did however manage to offer soft boiled eggs which really were soft boiled! Despite the number of tour groups coming and going we were never disturbed at night. I doubt we would ever stay at this hotel again only because I doubt we will visit this part of Norway again because I feel a week gave us plenty of time to explore this area.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a river view.

We stayed in this hotel on the first day in Norway. It's like the oasis for us....compared with Bangkok !! We loved this hotel. It's small, basic hotel. The location is superb..just right on the bank of river with the mountain !!! Fortunately, we got the room with the river. When we got up in the morning, it's like picture from painting. Breakfast and dinner were good and basic.

Room Tip: Choose the room with river view
