The instructions beforehand were clear and informative. Our flight was delayed, but contacting Eduardo about this was easy and he awaited us patiently. The reception by Eduardo when we arrived was very welcoming and personal, and the house was exactly as promised. Fortunately Eduardo speaks English much better than we speak Portugese :-)

The house was plenty comfortable for us, during the day it was still quite warm so we could use the pool which the children loved! For them there were plenty of toys and games, both indoors en outdoors. In the evenings it would get chilly and we could light the fireplace. The evenings that we didn't go out to eat (restaurants in Portugal are good and cheap!) we could use vegetables en herbs from the garden, which are fragrant and wonderful.

The situation of the house is great: you have a stunning view from the terrace (not so much from indoors) and there are plenty of interesting sites within one hour drive by car. We mainly went hiking in the national parks, drove through the Douro valley and visited the cities of Porto, Amarante, Vila Real and Guimaraes (which was our favourite). Parking the car is a bit of an adventure at first, going down a steep hill in a blind corner.. but you quickly find out to turn the car first and go down face-forward.
