“Pleasant place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2010

Vila Camelia is a pleasant hotel in Sinaia. The hotel is up the hill from the main street in town but is only a short walk (5 mins) from bars and restaurants. The staff were friendly and the room was quite spacious with a lbig balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. The hotel was not as plush as it looks on the website but for the price was more than acceptable. We had some confusion over the breakfasst price which was stated at 24 euros per person per day on our invoice before we arrived. Thinking was a crazy price for breakfast (more than the cost of the room) we enquired and it turns out the breakfast is 24 RON (about £5.00) which was much more acceptable! There was plenty of cheese, ham, cereal and bread and omlette cooked to order if you wanted. Sinaia is a slightly strange little place, it seemed to have a lot of huge hotels and a surprising lack of nice places to eat and drink. However, the majority of people that visit are interested in the Bucegi Mountains and simply use the town as a base. It's worth the cable car trip up to the top (2000m) where there are some lovely walks and a nice mountain restaurant. All in all Vila Camelia represents good value for money in Sinaia.

Had a great overall stay here...the staff were very helpful and pleasant, the villa itself quite atmospheric and the location (in the old part of Sinaia, a quiet residential area near a large park and Sinaia Monastery) unbeatable.

I would suggest that future visitors ask for room #1. I think it's the best, since you get a large window nook with a view of the greenery and the mountains outside, period furniture, as well as a glass-enclosed patio which makes a great place to read a book or have some tea.

The price is also good for what you get, my only complaint really is the dessert on offer at breakfast, they had the same little choix-la-creme for 2 days and it wasn't particularly inspired...also, it was the only choice available, so if you have a sweet tooth, you might need to satisfy it outside :)

Oh yeah, and contrary to other comments, the WiFi Internet worked well enough for me, although the signal was a bit weak...

Stayed here for 1 night with wife and 6yr kid.
Location : Close to the city center, placed on a step hill. A little annoying to climb on foot.
The villa itself is old style with a lot of stairs. We were placed in a second floor room with many many stairs despite the fact that we requested a low floor room. It was impossible to carry the luggage up there an no help was offered, just another room on the same floor.
The room is ok, clean, with extra bed for kid for free. Had problems connecting to the internet in the morning. Beds are acceptable.
The breakfast is realy basic, one kind of cheese, one kind of ham and one cake.
The place is quiet, the exterior is nice, parking is free in the vila.
Overall the place is ok, but nothing to remember.
You can find better places in Sinaia for sure.

This is an older villa with creaking floors and doors and windows that don't fully shut. Ventilation appeared to be an issue as odd smells abounded throughout the place. Breakfast is served in a cramped room. The breakfast itself was subpar with limited options and limited service. Meager portions of unimpressive scrambled/fried eggs were infrequently replenished at the buffet when depleted by guests.

Allegra and her English-speaking staff were welcoming and happy to tell us about this beautiful century-old villa conveniently located within easy walking distance of downtown in one direction and the monastery and Peles Castle in the other. Breakfast buffet each morning included an assortment of delicious and attractive foods, with an omelette made for each guest upon request. The charm and character of Vila Camelia was evident each time we walked the old creaky floors and stairs through a central sitting room with warm wood banisters and moldings and gorgeous stained-glass windows. Our room with private bath was spacious and clean with soft towels. If you are visiting Sinaia, this is a wonderful place to stay at a very reasonable price.

I came here in december 2008 and I was given a beautiful, huge room with fridge and TV. Tea-maker with tea-bags and a sewing kit were also provided. Since Christmas was coming, we also had a small patio with a Christmas tree, plus a little Christmas tree in out room... very nice! Outside it was snowing, which made Vila Camelia even more romantic. We had a big breakfast (ham, cheese, tomatoes, eggs) in a nice wooden room. The cost for one night (breakfast included) was only 50 euros. If you happen to come to Sinaia, don't miss Peles and Pelisor castles, Sinaia monastery and stay here!

Together with my husband, we spent the last St Valentine's week-end here.
We followed this site's recommendation and as it has been already mentioned here, the place it's a charming little villa-hotel on the hill, the first street behind the main street (and DN1) in Sinaia.
Everything is pretty basic, but absolutely enough for a week-end and/or a ski holiday. I guess is better suited for families without kids since everything is quite tight - villa's common room, the restaurant. We did not take our children this time and we felt it was a good decision. The restaurant is small and cozy with correct breakfast meal and prompt and kind services. All receptionists were kind and helpful. We will most probably return.
