My wife and i came across this restaurant, by chance, as we were driving from the uk to our new home in spain. We were simply looking for somewhere to break our journey and have a coffee. Having pulled up in the car park, and entered into the grounds ,we were amazed at the scene that confronted us and the genuine warm welcome from Antonio and all of the staff. We were made to feel like returning regular guests, rather than the first time visitors that we actually were and, even though we ordered only coffee, were treated with respect and all of our questions answered eagerly by Antonio and his team.. During recent months we have made the journey of 1hour 45 minutes each way with a number of friends, both those living in spain and those who have visited us from the uk, and the quality of the food and atmosphere have always been excellent. The surroundings are unique and interesting with all of our friends having remarked on the individuality of the same. Definitely worth a visit!!!!!

We first visited this place maybe five years ago and found everything utterly chaotic, so have not been back for some time. Also despite being listed as being in Antequera, it is actually a way North along the A45 motorway; the illustration is of the very nice museum (which can be visited) and not of the restaurant, though that is also an old and interesting building.

Now back to the review. We have been twice recently, and booked beforehand. Now all seems well organised, and we were greeted and shown to our reserved table. Tables are laid nicely with proper cloths in a nice dining room with a large open fire. [There is also an upstairs room, and we have heard that one can feel a bit abandoned there, but that is hearsay]. There are some good and "non-standard" dishes on the menu, and some daily specials. A soup was especially good. Main courses all fine, and puddings with (as is typical in the area) not much choice but they were all nice and probably home made or locally made. I say "non-standard" to distinguish it from the many, many bar-restaurants in the area which focus on huge slabs of grilled meat and chips served at bar tables covered in a paper sheet. This is very different. With wine and a 3-course meal with tip, it cost us around €40 a head and we felt that was decent enough value. We will return for sure.

Ate here on basis of Trip Advisor reviews and Michelin rating. I suppose the food is authentic but brown sauce seems to be the theme. The service was friendly and enthusiastic but the food was not worth a trip.

If you are looking for authentic Andalucian good here you found it. We ate here twice in three days. The first time we came by just to check the place out and stayed for the breakfast. Bread, jamon Serrano and fresh tomatos tasted delicious. Especially the ham was soft and tender. The second time we were served a full three course lunch. I had never tasted Porra before and the same went with many of the dishes along the three hour lunch. The owner came to tell us what we should eat and most were off the menu. Veal from their special oven melted in the mouth. She stayed at our table and told us about the place and the surroundings. Go there with open mind and alot of time. Won't be disappointed that I guarentee.
