“An Important Landmark”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

The Plaza Capuchinos is one of the most important plazas in Antequera and it is decorated with the Triunfo de la Inmaculada. The monument consists of a tall Corinthian column with the sculpture of the Virgen de la Inmaculada on top of the column. The sculpture of the Virgin is made of alabaster and was made by an anonymous artist. This is one of the most important sights in Antequera.

“Impressive Monument”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

There are several monuments in the shape of tall columns in Andalusia and the Triunfo de la Inmaculada is one of them. The sculptor was Antonio del Castillo, who started it in 1697 and finished it in 1705. The work was given to him by the Capuchin Fathers. It consists of a tall Corinthian column with the sculpture of the Virgen de la Inmaculada on top of the column. The statue is made of alabaster and was found in the Capuchin monastery, and the artists is unknown. There seems to be a wind that is blowing the cape of the Virgin and this is a wonderful Baroque work of art.
