Arriving on the Sunday afternoon bus at the small town of Antiquara around 3 pm at our lovely little hotel located in the pretty and deserted town square we were taken aback when asked by the receptionist if we wanted a quiet rear facing room or a noisy front facing one. As everywhere was so delightfully peaceful we opted for the room overlooking the pretty square and settled down for an afternoon siesta which was disturbed only by the church clock striking four. By five o'clock the places was transformed as every car for miles had converged on the town filled with excited family groups and were being driven around in circles, the streets were choked and congested and exhaust fumes streamed through our open bedroom windows. And then as the church clock chimed seven the streets were once again emptied. Hotel San Sabastion was delightful. The hotel is charming, its small and pretty, beautifully located with helpful staff. Rooms were rustic but quaint. Breakfast isn’t provided but do ignore the receptionist advice to eat in the cake next door as the staff there are very grumpy and walk down the man street a few yards and breakfast at Pasteler la Entre where you’ll get cheap freshly cooked Molletes, fresh orange juice and decent coffee served by friendly staff. If looking for a special meal try the Restaurant El Escribano [see my review] which is just a short stroll up the hill. If arriving by public transport from Malaga do so by the easy bus service rather than attempt the train as the main station is some miles out of town and an expensive taxi will be required.
