“A disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

We first visited this hotel 6 years ago and loved it. We were really looking forward to our second visit but found it disappointing. My wife had broken her foot a few days prior to our stay and although this hotel advertises good facilities for disabled people .. We found none. During our tour of Spain we found this hotel to be one of the worst for disabled access. The room was very basic and defiantly in need of some refurbishment. We found the mould which practically covered one wall particularly off putting. Some of the staff were friendly.. The young man at reception was very helpful but others not so much. Due to the location of the hotel which sits on the outskirts of the village .. We dined in the hotel every evening. The food was excellent and I must give top marks to their chef. We had booked the hotel on a half board basis but found the set menu very limited and chose to pick off the al la carte menu. In fairness to the hotel they did make a reduction on the bill for this. Overall this hotel has amazing potential but their rooms need some refurbishment.

Spendid courtyard and common areas. The rooms...um, not so much. Definitely in need of refurbishment--very worn floors, lots of chipped paint on the walls, peeling tiles in the bathrooms. Actually, the bathrooms, aside from the ceiling, were the best part of the room, very clean and crisp. But the rooms were such a disappointment, given how nice the inner courtyard looked in the pictures.

The staff were very courteous, and indeed, commiserated with us on the state of the rooms, offered to cancel our booking (if booking.com would agree). We decided to stay, and they sent us a bottle of champagne. Nice, classy touch there.

Just don't understand why the owners wouldn't take a winter and simply refurbish the rooms to bring them up to the standard of a proper 4 star. Fresh paint and sand/recoat the floors. Go figure.

I thought very well priced with certain caveats. We had two rooms one smelled like smoke but no so bad that we need to change nor had we requested non smoking. Still relevant for those with concerns. Also the Hote is located outside of town a smal amount but for most travlers I think Antequera is used as a regionl base. and asthetically the area around the hotel is s so. Visually the hotel itself is very nice and very reasonable priced. I ound the staff very attetive and pleasent.

I stayed at this hotel as part of my RFH Fitness Holiday. The staff at the hotel are wonderful and made every effort to provide a quality experience. The rooms are also nice - clean and tasteful, but the noise from the hallways and atrium can ruin an otherwise quiet atmosphere. The restaurant food is delicious, and the menu for the RFH package has some excellent choices (e.g., vegetable soup, seafood paella, fresh salads, etc.). The fitness centre next door needs renovating, as the spa was not up to standard (hot tub not working), the pool was dirty and in need of maintenance, and the spinning bikes are old and rusty. Overall, I recommend this hotel as a place to stay for enjoying the local surroundings, great food and wine, proximity to fantastic hiking and cycling trails, and the hospitality of the local people.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor facing the gym, which was okay, but noisy from the hallways (I think all ro...

Thanks very much for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that your holiday was affected by the noisy guests in the hotel during your stay and we have asked the hotel management to direct the night porter to do more to keep noise levels down.

You will be delighted to know that the hotel has invested in 12 new spinning bikes and is addressing the problem with the water temperature in the spa.

I have passed on your positive comments to the chefs, who have worked very hard to prepare our special menu, and to the guides, whose expertise and local knowledge are a crucial part of the programme at RFH Fitness.

Arrived for a 4 night stay on Monday 25th February 2013 for a business trip.
Rooms spacious enough and very clean. Everything well laid out.
Staff are courteous and helpful and most speak english even though I speak a little spanish (and getting better!)
Owner - Don Antonio is a real character and is excellent company.
Restaurant is really nice. Food is excellent and simply cannot fault it.
The restaurant is surround by wine racks and I did ask and there are about 2,000 bottles!
Well priced menu and wines and I would certainly recommend this hotel.
I look forward to my next trip there.

This was my third visit to Finca Eslava and I had been highly enthusiatic about the whole experience previously that I pursuaded a couple of friends to come with me on this trip. I had booked a Junior suit, which was o.k. except that the room was poorly lit, with no mirrors in the bedroom and the shower, although sophisticated was very cramped. Also there was no soap provided. These are minor issues compared to my main complaint, the restaurant, which should be named "Fawlty Towers". The restaurant opens for dinner at 20:00 and we arrived at 20:30. There was only one other table occupied. The head waiter presented us with the menus (which were in English) and after a couple of minutes was back to take our order before we had even had the opportunity to study the contents. Fortunately I had already highly recommended the "Suckling Pig" to my friends and so we knew what we wanted. I was then presented with the extensive wine list, which again I was not given the opportunity to browse, so it was a question of pointing at something that looked reasonable. I never get the chance to read the label as the waiter brought the bottle to the table to open and proceded to break the cork! One would normally expect an apology and a new bottle presented, but no, he picked up a spoon and pushed the remaining cork into the bottle! A decanter was then found and the wine poured into this. By this stage we were in hysterics!
And then the "Suckling Pigs" were served. Now this should normally have a dry crispy skin with a little fat and soft pink meat. Ours had a soft skin with no meat and too much fat. It was served on a bed of sliced potatoes swimming in fat. In short it was inedible. We retired to the bar to complain to the manager. He apologised and said that the following evening the meal would be "on the house". We explained that we were leaving in the morning and therefore could we have the meal for gratis. He responded that this was not possible, but we could have a glass of wine on the house! The next morning we attempted to resolve the problem at receptrion when checking out and we did get a discount on the overall bill. But this was not the point, it was a very disappointing visit.

Room Tip: The Junior Suite 110 is on the first floor and spacious, but traffic noise is a problem

Very nice hotel in an industrial location, it's a shame it's not more central but if you're traveling by car then it's fine.
Very helpful and courteous staff. We arrived late after the restaurant had closed but a quick call from the concierge to the chef meant we could have a sandwich made up and a beer or 2 before retiring for bed.
Comfy beds, well appointed room and bathroom with a convenient antechamber.
Breakfast was very nice and they'll even make you an omelette!
.
The pool and spa was excellent, more like a posh public swimming pool, very warm and pleasant. The spa was excellent, the spa pool is very large with 14 or 15 different hydrotherapy sections to massage different parts of your body!
