The Arco de los Gigantes is located at the Plaza de los Escribanos, s/n (beside the Alcazaba). It was constructed in 1585 by the architect Francisco de Azurriola. The style is late Renaissance. It was built using old Roman remains that were found in the nearby fields. The walls are two meters thick and have a height of 7 meters. Above there is a jar of white lilies in stone and the figure of a castle and a lion, which comprise the coat of arms of Antequera. In 2005 this site was declared a Monument of Cultural Interest.
