“unique experience in Seville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2012

The Casa de Carmona is an ideal place to enjoy quiet days and get lost in architecture and history. Very relaxed atmosphere, feel like at home, do not expect a hotel with full services. Enjoy the antique and unique interiors, the foods, the air, the people. Cannot find another place like this anywhere. Enjoy wines and good food, read books in solitude, all in a special way. Proprietors are so friendly and helpful and give the place a personal touch.

Room Tip: each room is totally different, all charming

We stayed in Casa de Carmona in October for 3 nights before travelling to the coast. It is a lovely, picturesque and comfortable place to stay, ideally situated for visiting Seville and Cordoba. Carmona itself is a delightful, small, traditional Spanish town. The free walking tour from the tourist information office is informative and enjoyable and adds to the pleasure of staying in Carmona.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor which was very quiet despite being near the centre of the town. Useful...

this is a beautiful old house, at least 600 years old,and has been in the present owners family many years. It is more like coming into a warm, personal house, it is not a cold chain hotel. There are photo ops everywhere you look. I must have taken at least 50 pictures in a hours time. There are artifacts galore, with coffee table type books in the rooms. Sure there is always something that needs freshening, that is never ending in any hotel with many users. But anything that some of the bad reviews mention, can all be easily over looked for the charm of the house, and the very graciousness of Fillipe (we did not meet his wife). Old houses such as these are always going to have a flaw, as they are old and you just need to relax and enjoy what the place has to offer, which is so rich in history. We loved our stay and would return and have already recommended this spot to many friends and family. Thank you Fellipe, again, your costa rican friends.

Let me explain. There are lots of beautiful Casas Palacios (gr?) in this part of Spain and we've stayed in some pretty plush places here and elsewhere but we found the ethereal beauty of staying in them often soiled by evident snobbery (or perhaps just the outward and unfortunate face of social-class unease) in the other guests.
Casa Carmona is run by the married owners; Felipe is also the chef, his mother owned the place before him, he's from Seville. They are genuinely gracious yet down to earth in a very old world style, giving the effect of a country retreat where you wouldn't be surprised to find Robert Graves tutting at the Bloomsburys.
It's a sumptuously maintained 15th century grand house (with all local craft and labour), with antique-stuffed interior décor in zones ranging from 18th century to 1950s style.
Carmona itself is 35 min from Seville airport in mid morning traffic.
I've written full marks for value because this is the real deal, and I'd pay a lot for the kind of feeling this place manages to maintain, in these surroundings: it isn't cheap, just the best place for the fairly modest price.

We were a group of 8 staying in this wonderful hotel full of charm. We found Filipe the manager to be a most attentive host. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were delightfully decorated and you really felt like you were in a palace. The views from nearby were stunning and Carmona is a wonderful place to take photos. Our room had the bedroom upstairs and a beautiful sitting room and enormous bathroom downstairs. This hotel is far more enchanting than staying in another chain hotel. After returning home it still remains in my memory as a very special place.
Thank you Felipe for all the trouble you went to make our stay so special.

Faded grandeur I think would be the correct term. Don't go expecting 5 star standard.
The couple are very sweet but seem a bit other wordly, not really business people. I bet it is a struggle to keep the place going, especially now in these straigtened times

Room Tip: Not all the rooms have Air con.

I'v been there tim eago but I see that the experience is always worth. This place is unique as it's an old patrimony house of an aristocratic family and you do not feel like a client but like a guest of the Family. No noise everything is smooth and elegant. Room are specially decorated with ancient pieces of furniture yet modern comfort is there. Special mention for the unusual garden long swimming pool. it 's not so big but, intimate and elegant as the whole experience in this place.
Special mention for the food also. Go there for a romantic and intimate special time.
