We stayed for 3 nights at the end of September and thought this was a great place for a short break. The hotel is very modern with a cool vibe and a fairly young and sporty clientele. It is also very quiet as most people are engaged in the range of sporting activities available and there is no entertainment at night. This makes for a nice relaxing break. There are five pools (two indoor and three outdoor) so, whilst the roof top chill out pool is very nice, there is no need to fight for a seat there as there are plenty of other options (we fell about laughing watching people spend half an hour going up and down in the lift just to sit up there while we went and claimed a comfy sofa bed by a lower pool).
The rooms are also funky, if basic in that the wardrobe is just a curtained off cupboard and there is minimal additional furnishing - one chair. There are though, chairs on the balcony which seemed quite large and there is a very big TV (many thanks to the earlier reviewer who explained how to change the language so that programmes dubbed into Spanish could be watched in English). The bathroom arrangement is unusual (although in our experience is becoming more common in 'hip' hotels) ie the bath is in the room with the toilet, shower and basin screened off from the rest of the room. This does make the room really only suitable for couples or very, very close friends!
We thought the food was more than adequate. It is all buffet with a great choice of salads and accompaniments. The soups were really nice and while some of the precooked offerings looked a bit over-cooked but there is a choice of fish and meat which is freshly grilled in front of you. The deserts were also much better than you get normally on this type of buffet. Dinner is served right up to 10pm and the food is replenished so no need to rush in when it opens. The wine was also priced very reasonably and if you don't finish it you can ask for it to be saved for the next meal. The best place to sit is on the terrace if weather permits although it does get busy but no one seems to linger there that long.
There was also a good choice for breakfast - fruit, cereals, cooked food, pastries, etc. There was only one egg chef who also produced great pancakes, and worked unbelievably hard and with great organisation so the wait was never that long. Perhaps the one bug bear is having to queue each time you want a coffee refill.
The staff all work fantastically hard and I can only assume that they must all be well looked after because they were unfailingly cheerful and helpful.
Finally the location. You can use the little Disneyesque train to get to the local station or to the supermarket. There is nowhere you can walk to as it is on a very steep hill so this is not a hotel to use if you want to go to the beach every day or tour the area. On a short break though there is really no need to go anywhere because this is a really super place to stay.
