“Out of the ordinary”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of September and thought this was a great place for a short break. The hotel is very modern with a cool vibe and a fairly young and sporty clientele. It is also very quiet as most people are engaged in the range of sporting activities available and there is no entertainment at night. This makes for a nice relaxing break. There are five pools (two indoor and three outdoor) so, whilst the roof top chill out pool is very nice, there is no need to fight for a seat there as there are plenty of other options (we fell about laughing watching people spend half an hour going up and down in the lift just to sit up there while we went and claimed a comfy sofa bed by a lower pool).
The rooms are also funky, if basic in that the wardrobe is just a curtained off cupboard and there is minimal additional furnishing - one chair. There are though, chairs on the balcony which seemed quite large and there is a very big TV (many thanks to the earlier reviewer who explained how to change the language so that programmes dubbed into Spanish could be watched in English). The bathroom arrangement is unusual (although in our experience is becoming more common in 'hip' hotels) ie the bath is in the room with the toilet, shower and basin screened off from the rest of the room. This does make the room really only suitable for couples or very, very close friends!
We thought the food was more than adequate. It is all buffet with a great choice of salads and accompaniments. The soups were really nice and while some of the precooked offerings looked a bit over-cooked but there is a choice of fish and meat which is freshly grilled in front of you. The deserts were also much better than you get normally on this type of buffet. Dinner is served right up to 10pm and the food is replenished so no need to rush in when it opens. The wine was also priced very reasonably and if you don't finish it you can ask for it to be saved for the next meal. The best place to sit is on the terrace if weather permits although it does get busy but no one seems to linger there that long.
There was also a good choice for breakfast - fruit, cereals, cooked food, pastries, etc. There was only one egg chef who also produced great pancakes, and worked unbelievably hard and with great organisation so the wait was never that long. Perhaps the one bug bear is having to queue each time you want a coffee refill.
The staff all work fantastically hard and I can only assume that they must all be well looked after because they were unfailingly cheerful and helpful.
Finally the location. You can use the little Disneyesque train to get to the local station or to the supermarket. There is nowhere you can walk to as it is on a very steep hill so this is not a hotel to use if you want to go to the beach every day or tour the area. On a short break though there is really no need to go anywhere because this is a really super place to stay.

Modern hotel, with great rooms and facilities.

Food buffet is good if a little too 'samey' after a few nights.

Infinity Pool on the roof is excellent, and the other pools are of a high standard.

Only negatives are distance (more gradient of the hill! to get to the beach).

Room Tip: The suites are only slightly more expensive and well worth the extra.

I spent 6 days/4 nights here in September and absolutely loved every minute. The hotel is stylish modern and clean, as are the rooms. Our suite room was lovely, on two floors with a living space with sofa, balcony and regular bathroom downstairs. The bed and another more 'open plan' bathroom is upstairs.

I'd recommend taking a taxi or aranging a transfer from the airport to the hotel as it's in a rather remote location, half way up a mountain, rather than in the hustle and bustle of a town, but this is what gives the beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere. The chilled atmosphere is also helped by the 'no child' policy which makes it relaxing and quiet in comparison to hotels where there are kids splashing and screaming in the pool. It's perfect for couples however we were friends travelling together and there were other groups too.

The staff were friendly and definitely appreciated any efforts guests made to speak Spanish.

The infinity pool on the rooftop is incredible and has beautiful views of the coastline, the sea and the mountains. In mid-September we didn't have trouble getting a bed by the pool at any time of day. However I imagine it would be much more competitive in the height of summer. The rooftop bar is kinda pricey for food and drinks but the food is lovely and you're paying for the location and convenience really. The food in the main restaunt is good, canteen style with a broad selection.

I would definitely recommend this hotel very highly for a relaxing trip as a couple, with friends or family (without children).

I wish to share my experiences of this modern hotel. It is located a short way up a mountain slope, with views across to the sea. There are lovely views and attached to the hotel is a sports hall and spa. Anything booked means you get a 10 per cent discount. We used the spa on 2 occasions, where staff are friendly and obliging.

The hotel could do with better signage as it is hidden away from the motorway and if approaching it from the coast road it is not signed at all. On booking in the receptionists were friendly, informative and helpful. Our room was situated on the second floor with a sea view. The room was well equipped using the space very efficiently with open plan bath, shower and toilet. Clean towels and bedding was changed daily. the cleaning staff were obliging and friendly.

We had excellent choices for breakfast and evening meal. It was warm enough to sit on the terrace for the evening meals most of the time and to watch the sunset. I felt that not serving coffee after a meal disappointing. You had to go to the rooftop bar and swimming pool for this. Although the bar was lovely some evenings having been out all day you didn't want to trek to the roof bar for coffee or a drink.

The drinks were quite expensive so stocking up at the local supermarket is a good idea. The hotel is good for couples and if you want a relaxing time. In order to get around a hire car is very convenient with free undercover parking, an added bonus.

There is a train service to the local train station, beach and small shopping centre, which we used to go to the beach on a particularly hot day.Public services also run regularly. We had a good deal on this hotel and if an offer comes up again we will take advantage of it.

Just back from 4 day break.Top class hotel with excellent facilities and friendly staff.Food very good, lots of choice, you can really spoil yourself if you want.Use the shuttle train to get about and then walk into Fuengirola - about 45 minutes stroll.Too far to walk into Benalmedina - taxi or hire car. Will definetly use this hotel again - only 20 minutes from Malaga airport.

The hotel is situated in the middle of the new development plot, it was built circa 2011 something.
Large and bright rooms, unique bar and swimming pool on rooftop. The sports club underneath, including several swimming pools, tennis courts and the gym. Yes, it's too far from the seashore and the Fuengirola centre. But, for guests convenience, the shuttle tram departs every 30-40 minutes. Plus, you can try the small electro cars, provided by the hotel. And the personnel speaks English! Be aware, it's pretty much fully occupied most of the times.

Room Tip: I would recommend south side (back yard)
