I recently spent a week away with my best friend at the Angela hotel in Fuengirola and have to say it was excellent. The hotel was friendly and welcoming and the staff more than ready to cater to your needs. The rooms were clean and spacious and the hotel itself very well situated.Only 2mins from a very clean beach. The food was excellent with a wide variety to suit all tastes. However we felt it catered for an older clientele with regards to evening entertainment but this didn't prove to be a problem as the streets of Fuengirola are littered with a wide array of bars to suit all tastes. If you want to take a trip out this can be organised by the hotel.Or if you are feeling more adventurous the train station, bus station and ferry are all within a ten minute walk of the hotel. My friend and I would definitely stay here again.

Reading some of the reviews, yes it is for the 'older' end of the traveller. Don't let that put you off though. Angela Hotel is a superb hotel. If you've not been yet and are booked in, look forward to it, you will enjoy the whole experience. Our stay was from the 4th August for a week, and was actually our honeymoon.

As soon as you arrive you get the feeling of welcome and quality, the reception area is open and airy, the bar area is lovely with very comfortable seats and lovely views of the sea.

The food is of good quality, varied and fresh. Always hot and plenty of it and something to suit all tastes.

The rooms are a little small but more than adequate. After all, the intention of a holiday in the sun is to have a holiday in the sun, not in your room. Rooms were nice, clean and serviced daily. We were in 409 which offered a nice view of the sea and overlooked the pool.

We didn't see the hotel entertainment as we like to get out and about after dinner, however, we did hear some of the acts at the hotel when passing, and all seemed to be good.

We did spend most of our days by the pool. The pool itself is excellent, an infinity pool which we used to help us cool off in the heat. Its great to swim up to the wall and watch the world go by. One little issue was the lack of sunbeds for the numbers wanting to use them. We didn't have too much of a problem getting beds, however, if you want a bed do get down there early. There are beds out but you may have to sort one from the extra pile, then there may be an issue of where to put it. One advantage of the guest being of 'older' age you do get a lot leaving in the peak of the heat and this does free up some beds. There is also a lovely cafe bar by the pool with seating area for coffee or just waiting for the sun to come round to the pool.

Finally, the staff. We have never been to a hotel where the staff are so happy. This makes all the difference to your stay, even down to the staff member seeing us off when we left. a really nice touch which had us wishing this was the level of service we had everywhere we went. The management have got this absolutely right, their staff are happy and at the heart of an excellent hotel.

Thank you to all the staff and management for a wonderful stay at your hotel, we will return!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room, you get a sea view and sunshine in the evening.

I read many reviews before we went to this hotel and have to agree with most of them. The hotel public rooms, infinity pool and sun terrace are lovely. Everywhere is immaculately clean.

The hotel keeps the doors locked to the pool until 9 which is a very good idea although some people still queued by the door. We never queued and still always got a bed but usually at the back of the terrace. If you don't want an umbrella there are always lots of spare beds stacked up.

The pool terrace has great seating areas with comfy chairs and settees and lovely views of the beach and the pizzas at the pool snack bar are delicious. We had way too many of them.

The entertainment was mostly good. There were mostly singers but also a couple of comedians. You couldn't fault the hotel for trying to please everyone. We went to the Yaramar Hotel one night to see the show One Fine Day and that was excellent.

This was the cheapest holiday we have ever had drinks wise. Happy hour ( 2 for 1 ) starts at 7 p.m. in the lounge bar each night with a singer on. If the entertainment is on the pool terrace Happy hour is there from 9 to 11 and if it is in the downstairs room it is 9 to 10.

The staff were always very helpful and friendly especially the lounge bar staff and reception.

The only problem we had with the hotel was the room we were given when we first arrived. We were given room 110. All day and all night there is a noise from what sounds like a generator stopping and starting every 15 seconds. We had no sleep the first night so we asked to be moved. We were told we could move to the non sunny side of the hotel or pay a supplement of 3 euros each per night to move to the front of the hotel which we did. In hind sight we should have moved to the non sunny side because it was to hot to sit on the balcony on the sunny (pool) side until night time anyway. I think the rooms near 110 must be able hear this noise as well.

If you want to travel around a bit, use the local buses and trains. They are so cheap and easy to use.

There were a few children there while we were there but they were very well behaved and not a problem at all. We were told that Thomsons book 90% of guests and the hotel 10% so there were different nationalities and children.

We loved our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone of any age. There was a vast range of ages while we where there and everyone got along.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 110.

Clean Hotel in a lovely central location, excellent variety of good quality food, helpful and friendly staff. Enjoyed some of the entertainment, especially the barman George on the Wednesday evening, who had a brilliant voice.

Room Tip: We booked a seaview room, which had a lovely big balcony and a lovely view,we were on the 4th floor.

This was a great find! Booked with Thomson and read reviews about it being for older clientele, yes it is true that the age group was older than mine but I can't say it was a problem, in fact that was part of the reason we booked it! Our party was aged between 30 and 69 and we all had a great time. The hotel itself is very nice, can't comment on the refurb as this was our first time, but the whole place looked good.
Nice glossy modern marble flooring throughout lobby/lounge and plush comfortable seating. Restaurant looks smart. I notice people had commented on the 'weird ceiling' in the dining room. It's not weird, it's modern and fits in well with the decor.

LOTS of food. All tasty and good choice.

Restaurant/hotel staff all helpful/polite/friendly. The waiters/maitre d' were particularly amusing and gave us a free bottle of wine!

Hotel is right on the (beautiful) beach, lots of sunbeds available on the beach priced at 4.50 euros a day. We didn't use the pool or poolside area as we prefer the beach but looked like folks were enjoying themselves there too.

The entertainment was cabaret style singing every night apart from one flamenco night, although we didn't tend to stay in the hotel in the evenings, we liked to wander the beautiful backstreets and have coffee/cocktails watching the world go by. The hotel singers were of mixed skill, but 'George' (I don't know his last name!) was excellent. Good song choices and lovely voice. The songs were sometimes before my time (I am 30..) but didn't bother me, I enjoyed it! We weren't the only young folk around, there were a few others, but there was no rowdy behaviour and a good nights sleep was had by all everynight!!
Would be more than happy to return.

I didn't want to post this review.
This was the second time we had visited the Angela. I wrote that we had had a superb time. So much so that we booked again for his year. It had a makeover last October and the public rooms were in a beautiful condition.
We paid extra for a room with a sea view and it was worth every penny in our opinion. Not only do you have a lovely view of the sea during the day but at night time the promenade comes alive with people strolling along. It is really good for people watching! The hotel is located quite centrally along the prom and is a good starting point for strolls in either direction.
Cleanliness is something the staff work hard to achieve and with great success, the rooms and to public areas very clean and tidy.
The food is is excellent, there was a good selection of different dishes to suit even the most fussy of eaters (of which I am one apparently). I ate well all week and looked forward to meal times.
The staff in all the various sections of the hotel were all very friendly and attentive. They all appeared to speak English to a good standard so there was no language barrier.
The hotel is adults only which meant that that it was peaceful and there were no children running amok and making a noise. This may be one of the reasons why we found the hotel to be quiet and extraneous noise did not seem the wake us during the nights. There were many more younger adults staying this year but they also seemed to respect other people (if they came back later on in the evening).
So everything was idyllic with this hotel?
Not quite.
If you are used to large rooms with space to move around these rooms are not for you. They are small and the furniture has seen better days. I think the size of the rooms reflects the age of this hotel. My mum can remember going to this hotel in the mid-seventies.
The bath towels are not big enough to get dried properly. This is a particular bugbear of mine why can't hotels provide bath towels in the bathroom?
Although the pool area and sun terrace has been refurbished (very nicely too) there was still a shortage of sun beds. The refurbishment hasn't finished yet so hopefully some more room and beds will be added.
So given the last three points you may be forgiven for thinking that we did not fully enjoy our stay at the Angela. No we did not enjoy it - we loved it! So much so that we have booked again for next year. The booking was done when we got back home. We had tremendous difficulty getting the week that we wanted. Other peoples reviews speak for themselves. This hotel is to good and to popular.
That's why I didn't want to write this review. I did not want to tell anyone how much we enjoyed it and how good we think the hotel is. Ah well with a bit of luck no one will read it.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are good value. However if people can get a room ending in 27,28,29,30 these are side...
