“Very well run hotel”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We stayed at the Myramar for 14 nights on a self catering basis. The spacious apartment was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms overlooked the pool and we found it a little noisy at night (but we are country bumpkins!) The staff were extremely helpful and friendly when we needed any information or assistance. We thought it was a really good idea that the pool area was closed overnight until 10.30 in the morning - no rushing to get the towels on the beds at the crack of dawn. Having said that, there were more than enough sunbeds. There was a huge supermarket in the nearby shopping centre which was very handy. Getting around was easy because there was a bus stop close to the hotel entrance and buses ran in to town every half hour.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor of block 1 overlooking the pool. Sun most of the day, but a little noisy...

Our 2 day stay has been so far low part of our trip. From a cleanliness level, the fridge was not clean, nor rest of kitchen. Tub was also gross. We had to ask for sheets for the sofas in living room as we were 4. And only 2 towels were left for 4 people. Internet only in lobby and very difficult to connect if searching for nearby restos etc. Staff very nice but we asked for soap three times and never got it as one little tiny bar of soap was in bathroom. Everything available is at an additional cost so it becomes expensive fast for a sub-par hotel. Pool area nice. Went and checked out buffet and did not try it because it looked like cafeteria food. We moved to another location for rest our stay and love our new place.

Been to this hotel apartments four times, May and Sept,
Can't fault it, excellent accommodation , friendly and very helpful staff, really friendly cleaners,
Situated just a nice walk from beach, etc, but the town itself is a great place to find the real Spanish people, shops and eating places, not expensive to eat out , really enjoyable holiday

Having heard that so many Gibraltarians were going to this Hotel/Apartment complex,i thought it was about time we gave it a try.Already having our main holiday booked for Almunecar this year at a Playa Senator hotel i thought a cheap break in June for the 4 of us would be great and we would be able to at last see why so many friends were going to this Hotel...was it just because it was cheap!
ARRIVAL:We arrived on Friday the 6th June for 3 nights,it was me my wife and our 2 kids 7 and 11 yrs old.We paid £125 room only (148 euros)direct on the hotel site,it was actually as cheap as Travel Republic or bookings.com..i always like to book direct if possible. The hotel was exactly 1hour and 15mins from Gibraltar by car,and it is right next to the Myramar Shopping centre, which in my opinion is a much better than Las Canadas.

PARKING:We were lucky to find quite a few free parking spaces just on the Hotel doorstep, which gave us peace of mind as the car was there for the three nights.

RECEPTION:Reception was small but with a good number of sofas so you could sit and connect to free wi-fi(only free in that specific area of Hotel the Hall)which although signal was weak it did not disconnect not even once.Reception staff were great and spoke English fluently. We were given apt room number 1511 on the main building which was on a 5th floor.

APPEARANCE:We were surprised as to how clean and well kept the corridors leading to the room were. The hotel certainly looked the part, a 3 star rated hotel.

ROOM:The room was also excellent. We were received by very clean and shiny floors which lead to a great sitting area with a small kitchen that included a small 2 ring cooker, microwave and a fridge(no freezer which was a bit of a disappointment)which really cooled well. The kitchen had knifes, forks, spoons, plates, bowls, cups, and glasses, even kitchen scissors and cooking utensils. We also had a kettle and a toaster and a cooking extractor.Broom and mop and bucket and bin complemented the kitchen. There was a table for 4 with for chairs for our daily breakfast.
Next to this kitchen there were 2 sofa beds for our 2 children, leading to a balcony with a clothes drying hanger,a round table with 4 chairs.
The main bedroom has a fitted wardrobe and 2 single beds and 2 side tables. The beds were very comfortable and pillows looked fine(we always take our own pillows to hotels as we have delicate necks).
The bathroom was quite a surprise,we found a very clean and well kept bathroom with both a bath tub and a big shower area(great for families in hurry to get ready)Both Gel,shampoo and soap are supplied daily, although i always take my own as its never enough.
All in all a great Room which did surprise us a bit as it was more than expected for £125 for 3 nights.

POOL:The pool was very clean and quite big for the amount of people at the time, although might be too packed in July or August. The pool is shallow for a couple of metres(30cm)then it has steps that lead to a maximum of 140cm depth. There is a kids pool to the left of the main pool.Very clean pool.Pool opening time was 10am and closing was 6.30pm although as summer moves along i think times may differ.Sunbeds are plentiful and there is always shade for everyone.Whilst there at 6pm the sun had gone and the shade from the hotel covered the pool area..saying that as from 10am the sun is covering all the pool area.Lifeguards always on duty.

ENTERTAINMENT:The hotel has no entertainment for adults like shows or flamenco, magic etc,but they do have great entertainment for kids, nearly every day a woman takes the kids off to play games and finger painting(be aware finger painting caused my sons swim trunks to get so stained by water paint that we had to throw them away when we came back to Gib,so make sure they were older swim wear).

FOOD:I can not comment on food as we went room only, but i can comment on what we did for food during our stay.
On Friday on arrival we had a Burger King at Myramar Shopping Centre(MSC),we also bought some provisions for the coming days at the Eroski Supermarket in the MSC.Later for supper we ate at the FOSTERS HOLLYWOOD american style restaurant ant the MSC.Meal for 4 cost us 56 euros.
On Saturday for lunch we has pizza from MSC and for supper we went to the beach to have some fish plates,we found DANY a corner restaurant right next to the beach, which i can recommend to anyone that goes to Fuengirola as the price for the 4 of us was 47 euros including drinks and the fish was fresh and tasty.
On Sunday after i went to the cinema at 12am to see the new Tom Cruise movie(in english)i took some KFC from the MSC back to our room, later that evening we went back to the beach front and had a great Chinese meal that was both great value and very fresh tasting,we had our meal at RESTAURANTE CHINO GRAN MUNDO.35 euros for the 4 of us including drinks.
Monday being our last day we decided to have a snack for lunch,we had some rolls for lunch with a salad and some spanish ham and olives.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Have breakfast in the room as that way you can wake up later than normal and really rest during your stay.Buy toast butter etc all from the EROSKI at the MSC, they have great prices on food products.

Dunnes store left crossing the bridge.

Keep wife away from shops in MSC if not she will melt your credit card...lol.

Hotel ice creams can be purchased at the pool bar for similar prices to street kiosks 1.80 to 2.50 euros is the average prices.

If staying for more than 3 days the 10 euros wifi for 7 days around all the hotel is worth it ,if not its 4 euros per day.

BREAKFAST AT HOTEL 8EUROS ADULTS 4 EUROS KIDS
LUNCH ONLY SNAKC AVAILABLE.
DINNER 15 EUROS ADULTS 8 EUROS KIDS.
HAPPY HOUR 5-6 10-11PM

From Hotel to Myramar Shopping Centre (primark etc) 5 mins walking.

From Hotel to beach front 15-20 mins walking. Will try to post a photo on how to get there easily.Try taxi if coming back to hotel late as area is quite dark and could be uncomfortable for some.

CONCLUSION:We will return to this Hotel next year,we also now understand why so many friends come to this place,it has a great location next to an excellent Shopping Centre and is only 15mins from the beach.Price of 50 euros per night for 4 can not be beaten and the apartment is very well equipped with everything you might need for your stay.I do prefer full board or All Inclusive's but sometimes money is a problem and this hotel is the solution as you can spend as much or as little as you want on food during your stay.I do know some apartments has residents cooking their meals as sometimes you could smell the cooking.

Worth it and in a great place like Fuengirola with a great aqua park very near to the hotel and great food along the beach front.

Will definitely return to this Hotel.

Room Tip: room 1511 had a great view of pool

Just back after 1 week at this hotel. It was ok. No entertainment at all. castle bar closes at 11pm Apartment was ok very basic. Pool opened at 10.30am and closed at 6.30pm. 2 life guards on at all times. No problem getting a sun bed. There was a constant breeze about the pool. and there were plenty of parasols if you wanted one. I never saw anyone cleaning around the pool and for the first time in years we had little bites from the local bugs. Cant help but think had the pool area been cleaned now and then that this would have got rid of them. Hotel is a good 10-15mins walk away from Fuengirola which is also very very quite. If you have young kids its probably ok for you if you like to go to bed early. Staff were very nice. We used to go to the big shopping centre just across the road and used the food court which was good. Fuengirola does not appear to have any sort of night life apart from some discos. No entertainment on in any of the pubs we visited and believe me we did try to find them. We went to Gibraltar for the day which was fabulous. I wished we had stayed nearer there. Would not be in a hurry to rush back to Fuengirola and would not go back to this hotel. In saying that we did have a nice holiday and tried a lot of the pubs in Fuengirola but we like a bit more lively holiday.

Room Tip: we stayed in block 3 facing the pool and got the sun early afternoon into the evening.
