Just got back from a brilliant 6 night stay at Hotel Itaca, 5 minute walk from the beach, nice swimming pool with sunbeds all around (The whole ritual of putting a towel on sunbeds to reserve it for the day did seem to take place so I recommend putting a towel on a sunbed in the morning as they can go fairly quickly), very friendly staff - always willing to help, Breakfast was an all you can eat buffet with a great selection of hot and cold food (Bacon, Scrambled egg, tomato, baked beans - cereals, pastries, fruits, meats, breads etc.). We had a room on 3rd floor with a balcony at the front of the hotel, cleaned everyday with fresh towels added and beds made. Mini fridge and safe in room, bath and shower in bathroom, air conditioning works well in room controlled by a remote control. Fairly busy road runs along the front of Hotel but with balcony door shut it blocks out most noise so not an issue. Only negative thing I could really say about the Hotel is the wifi is very temperamental which I know a number of other people have mentioned in their reviews too. Only place it worked in the bedroom was if you stand by the sink in bathroom, I'm not sure what its like in other rooms, it worked well by the swimming pool and in reception so not a major issue.

If you're flying to Malaga Airport, then I highly recommend you take the train from the airport to Fuengirola. It costs €2.65 single ticket and takes about 35 minutes, much cheaper than getting a taxi! Hotel Itaca is then a 10-15 minutes walk from Fuengirola or you can take a taxi from outside the train station to the hotel which will cost you about €5-€6.50 and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Fuengirola itself has a real Spanish feel about it, a lot of traditional Spanish buildings, all locals seem really nice. Lots of restaurants and bars along the beach front. Also a 5-10 minute along the long road which the Hotel is situated on will bring you to supermarkets and a number of shopping places.

Last stop on train line from Malaga is Fuengirola so if you want to go beyond it, have to take a bus or taxi. The 220 bus which stops right outside the hotel, goes to Marbella which takes about 50 minutes getting there and just over an hour coming back as it takes a slightly different route which means you can't get off outside Hotel, it goes around the back way and stops at Fuengirola bus station instead which is just around the corner from the train station so a 10-15 minute walk back to Hotel. If you want to go to Marbella Old Town get off at the Marbella Centro stop (outside a pharmacy just after some horses with carriages) which is about 4 stops from the end, costs €3.29 single ticket. Also on the 220 bus route, you can go to El Chaparral, La Cala de Mijas, Torrenueva and many other places along the Costa Del Sol.

Overall, a great place to stay which I highly recommend and would definitely return!

We stayed for a short break and we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation . Although it doesn't look great from the outside and situated on quite a busy road we were greeted with a very warm welcome and allocated room 307. The room was spacious and with two very comfy beds and those long firm pillows I love to get when abroad. The room had air conditioning,a large narrow balcony facing the road and a quite modern bathroom. The pool area was clean however there aren't really enough sun beds to go around ( the Germans don't reserve sun beds the British do) , however if up early you can get one. The staff at the bar are friendly and drinks are cheap. You have to ring a bell for someone to come but this happens really quickly. Try the lemon crux campo beer very refreshing in the heat of the day. Top tip those booking independently get the train from Malaga airport only costs 2.5 euros and you are there in 30mins no changes 6 or 7stops. Will return so thanks.

We have just returned home after week at the Itaca in Fuengirola and had a wonderful stay. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are spacious, very clean and were services daily. Breakfast was the same every day but a lot of choice. The hotel is perfectly situated just a 5 minute walk from the beach and the main areas for restaurants and bars.
We have stayed at the Itaca before and will stay there again. Great value for money.

Room Tip: We had rooms at the front of the hotel and although it is a busy road it didn't bother at all by...

We visited this hotel in late June 2014 , and if we could turn back the clock would never do it again . Although the room was ok ,it overlooked the busy street below where the was constant noise of traffic , buses arriving outside at 5/6 am in the morning , and refuse trucks loading bins
during the night ,we asked to be moved and this was not possible , even offering to pay extra, most staff were helpful , but for one barman who was rude and not at all very helpful , who seemed like we were bothering him when anyone rang the bell for his attention, as he insisted on refilling our fresh drinks into the glasses we were drinking from , to top this off he would come back
and close the pool bar without a word to any guests by the pool bar

Breakfast was buffet a set up ,and there was very little choice unless you really liked scrambled eggs and toast and it was the same every morning with Que to the toaster and coffee machine , by the time you had everything together your breakfast would be near cold, we felt we were working in the hotel , not guests in the hotel, and to top it all off our barman paced up and down waiting to take your plate away the second you looked like you were near finished , this guy totally turned us off , suffice to say that we will never visit this so called "Hotel" again. I only speak for ourselves , but the other guests were also very unhappy with this hotel , and expressed the same views as ourselves , This was not a good experience and really spoiled what should have been a good sun holiday .....

Room Tip: Check the room location in your hotel , and if you can change it if you are unhappy with your locati...

Nice hotel with good staff who we found to be very helpful rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels .. I requested a low floor overlooking the pool (cheeky I know) but the hotel obliged .breakfast was a continental affair which we enjoyed and as it was close to the beach we had the best of both with the pool being easy to get sunbeds at all times .within 10 mins walking there is shoppers heaven-- the miramar shopping mall and the fuengirola market !! We found it more than met our needs and enjoyed it very much and found it very secure

just back from a 7night stay in this hotel. the location couldnt be better, stones throw from beach and promenade, about 10 min to the miramar shopping complex. right in the centre of fuengirola, at the end of the main street with more shops (zara, mango etc) but in a really quiet part. the best of both worlds.
the room was nice, wifi tempermental but you are on holiday to relax after all! spotlessly clean and cleaners in every day. pool is area is lovely and a nice pool bar serving drinks ice creams and snacks.
staff were so friendly, they even printed off boarding passes for us.
all in all a great holiday.

Room Tip: ask for a balcony :)
