“Clean and friendly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for a 4 night break.
The hotel is about a mile from Fuenirola town right on the beach front. If you don't like to walk into town you can catch the bus 2€ approx.50 yards from the hotel or get a taxi which will cost around 10 €.
Large room and bathroom small balcony with chairs and clothes line. Firm bed. Tea and coffee making would have been nice.
Extensive range of food for buffet breakfast although hot food was on the cold side one morning . Times for breakfast were 7.30-10.30 but if you go in after 10 limited food left and the morning we left it did not open on time so a very hurried breakfast before the taxi arrived to take us to the airport.

Plenty of sun beds around the pool which are of poor quality and need updating. Towels can be hired, again most 4 star hotels provide them free of charge. We found the restaurant/ bar near to the pool expensive. It would be nice if they were to serve sandwiches/ baguettes or even tapas as not everyone wants a large meal at lunch time and the nearest cafe was on the other side of the dual carriageway.
We had lovely weather so the walk into town along the promenade was pleasant not so if it had been raining.
Reception staff were very friendly an helpful.
We did not use the spa so unable to comment on that.

Just back from this hotel where we (2 couples) spent the weekend on a 'Romantic' package. The positives are.....the pool and surrounding terraces are lovely. The reception staff were also very friendly and helpful.Overall the hotel is badly in need of TLC. It is tired and gloomy. The dinner buffet was awful. Low quality ingredients overlooked and then frazzled under the heat lamps of the buffet. There is a shortage of staff in the dining room - we cleared our own table before dining and between courses on the evening we had dinner. This was marginally better at breakfast......but we still had to clear a table in order to sit down to breakfast. The spa has seen better days and would benefit from a lick of paint and more staff in evidence. Many of the spa rooms were simply not in use. A previous reviewer has described the hotel as 3 star - that's about right. Would I return, No thanks.

Room Tip: The views over the pool are nice but you are in danger of noise from resellers along the beach area.

Reviewed this hotel in December 2011 and gave it an excellent rating and have been recommending ever since. However have just returned from a three day stopover and how this place has deteriorated!
The rooms are very, very tired At least ours were in "edificio mijas" we were on the 6th floor, we had paid extra for a safe (why extra at this price?) which would not open on first night having already put our valuables in it, this resulted in me having to get dressed and walk down to reception (a lo---ng way!) only to be given the third degree on reception as to whether I had paid or not! when they finally believed me I was given a new card which also didn't work, so back down, incidentally I could not phone as the phone was inoperative and still was when we left despite reporting it 3 times. Young lad came up to our room and finally opened safe (it was now 1o'clock) and the next day it was put right.
The rooms are not sound proofed in fact we could hear our neighbours conversations!
The furniture around the pool and gardens is very tired.
Breakfast was good but very crowded and the queues for cooked eggs were very long indeed with only one cook.
There were many other minor problems which stop me giving any rating other than average.
Next time I will save money and stay at one of the other Fuengirola hotels.
The upside to all this of course is the location and views, but for a hotel charging top price, customers want more than this.

This is the second time I visit this hotel. I love the atmosphere, especially at the pool area. It’s beautiful and calm, and just 20 meters to the beach. Most of the rooms have a beautiful view, either to the sea or the pool area. The breakfast is delicious, with a great selection. They also make omelets, fried eggs, etc. on demand, only a pity that the chef is somewhere else most of the time, so you really have to wait for the service. I am also a bit disappointed that all the hotels in Fuengirola start breakfast at 07:30, why can’t any of them start at 07:00? At 07:30 there is a long queue of people waiting for breakfast, and I would really like to eat earlier if possible.

The hotel is also outside the center of Fuengirola, so expect a 20 minutes walk to find a decent dinner restaurant or 25 minutes to the shopping area. (or 10 minutes if you like to shop in a shopping center).

My last day in the hotel I lost all electricity in my room at 11pm at night, and I had to wait 45 minutes before finding out that they could not fix the problem. I was offered to move to another room at midnight, no compensation or apologies for the inconvenience, but at least I got a room with electricity for a good night sleep and the morning shower :o)

This time we used the hotel to have a conference, and that was really disappointing. First of all we did forget to tell them that we need a projector in advance. When we discovered that the meeting room was without projector, they helped us with the equipment and charged us 180 Euro + 21% taxes for a projector and screen in two days. That is really a crazy cost, for something that is almost always inclusive when arranging conference in Nordic countries.

Then we had pre-ordered lunch and coffe breaks for a two days conference, and they really had a problem with following the schedule. We had a busy program, and then it’s a bit irritating that we had to make inquiry for the coffee and food every time, even though we checked the schedule in the morning. I expect hotels to be able to follow a prearranged schedule at conference and meetings.

The coffe break menus were OK, and it was plenty of food on these menus, but the pre-ordered orange juice was only enough to half the group… The best part was the meeting room, spacious, good chairs, effective aircondition and plenty of cold water.

This is a 3 star hotel, even though its rated 4. Everything on the photo is correct about the hotel, except the "eating salon" - the real one is more humble.

Its clean, they keep it tidy and the location of the hotel was convenient for us. Its near a mall, gas station and also near the airport and surrounding cities, if you want to explore Marbella etc.

The front desk could be more efficient and proactive. For example, we would ask for restaurant recommendations and they would recommend us, but they didn't call to see if they can make reservation or to see if it was open. One night we ended up looking for hours and we discovered that referred restaurant was closed and they owners went on vacation.
We also tried to visit Granada and we asked them what they would recommend for Alhambra and this and that and they didn't advise anything...and when we went there, the tickets were already sold out (for 2 weeks in advance) and we end up not going inside the castle.

So, the concierge, front desk, reception Is all in ONE!

For us, it was important to be near the beach, so you don't cross a highway street etc...and simply go directly to the Sea and also being near local stores for convenience shopping. This hotel served that purpose.
However, the food did not meet our expectation. As one staff said, "it is more or less the same everyday". We decided not to go full or half board. We only took breakfast, and let me tell you it got Really boring eating the same thing over and over every morning. They focused on eggs and cold cuts a lot. Pastries are somewhat bad...you just don't want to consume too much...there is no motivation. We tried their dinner twice, the first night because we were very tired and the last night because we were leaving and needed to sleep early. We were surprised because the final night (Friday) ended up being Fish day, and they had somewhat decent food...and the desert was okay too. What we experienced is consistency in the menu and preparation. For example, on the final day of our dinner, one staff was going back and forth and bringing out whatever desert they had, it would just be one plate...and whoever got a chance, they would get to eat it, and if they didn't - Gone!
And we didn't eat the pork or drink alcohol, so that also limited us in terms of selection...but we thought about it, and that didn't make too much of a difference.

If you have travelled to Egypt or Hawaii, then this hotel will disappoint you...because we've had such fantastic food and service for a 4 star hotel in those areas. These are considered bed and breakfast in those places.

We would probably not go there again but our experience was also not horrendous We give it B- out of A+ being the best and C+ being average. So again, 2+ out of 5.

Room Tip: Try to avoid being near the elevator, but this hotel is bad in terms of noise, because the people in...

Nice hotel, nice situation. As an incoming guest I would assume that reception staff would give you a basic rundown on what was what in any hotel, unfortunately this was not the case here. For example if you pay for your evening meal in the restaurant it is 27 euros per head, but if you pay at reception it is 22 euros per head, but you must pay this pre meal to avail of it. We were lucky that we had friends staying who put us right, but as we addressed this issue to the reception staff they told us that it was not their responsibility to tell us! Who's is it then?
It is probably common practice in Spain to add a service charge, however in some cases this is not deserved as the staff are anything but attentive. \i suppose they feel why bother when you are getting a tip anyway.
I agree with others who submitted a review that the sun loungers are pretty grubby and in need of repair or replacement. Drinks are expensive but twice the measurement of what you would get at home. The only reason I would not return here would be the expense.

We stayed here beginning of October and can relate to some of the reviews, like the sea views only being seen if your standing up, also the beds are really uncomfortable, very hard my husband had a stiff neck and bad back after 1st night here, also the drinks were expensive,3.50 euro for beer and 5euros for a baileys.
However we did like the fact it was right on the beach with a nice promenade to walk into fuengirola about 15 min walk....
We also liked the pool area and could always find a sun lounger ,we found the breakfasts to be particularly good, better than evening meal as evening meals seemed not enough cooking staff on!
We found hotel to be clean and tidy.
Would return again if beds are improved....I will look out for new reviews on this matter!!
