We stayed in this hotel on two occasions last year, May 2013 and July 2013.
The May visit was for 5 nights. Our experience on that occasion impressed us so much that we booked our summer break,a week in July, in the same hotel.
The first, and most obvious advantage of the IPV Beatriz Palace is its location. The hotel is right on the beach; A door opens from the pool area onto the promonade, and a few metres from this is the ramp which connects you with the beach and its miles of golden sand. There are no roads to cross, no hunting for parking spaces, no stress, just a short stroll down to the sea. The hotel is also on the edge of Fuengirola, so it is away from the crowds and the excesses of the town centre, in a beautiful location overlooking the vast sweep of the beach and the mountains in the distance.
The hotel itself is nice, spacious and spotlessly clean, with lots of marble and wood. Reception staff are efficient, friendly, welcoming and helpful. All rooms have a view over the pool area and the beach beyond it. Pool area is quiet, clean and well looked after. The pool is an unusual circular design and quite deep. Breakfast has a good range of usual types of food and you can have your eggs cooked to order. The waiters bring you coffee and a jug of hot milk. We enjoyed the novelty of having breakfast at a table on the outdoor terrace in the gardens, listening to the sea just over the fence.
Our room, on both occasions, was a good size, with a nice bathroom and a balcony with a lovely view. Some reviewers complain about the walk into town, but don't let that put you off. The walk is really about 25 - 30 mins, right along the seafront all the way. We walked it in to town and back every night and actually enjoyed it. Yoy pass the old castle and cross the river on a new pedestrian bridge which is illuminated at night. The walk helps to sharpen your appitite and to burn off a few calories, and we all need a bit of exercise and fresh air. You also get to see how groups of local people organise parties on the beach, barbequeing sardines and celebrating life, which the Spanish people do so well.
There are, of course a few niggles; the spa looked nice, but we didn't use it as it is ridiculously expensive. Use of the spa should be inclusive for hotel residents. The evening entertainment seemed a bit lame, but not many people stayed around in the evening anyway. Ther is a huge shopping centre around the corner. You can easily walk to it if you follow the river. It has a mutiplex cinema and there are always films in english playing.
We like this hotel so much that we are actually planning to return for a third visit this year. It has everything we want.
