“A Bargain Break - an excellent Stay in cozy studio & Stunning Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

Spent 4 nights here early November and where lucky enough to get great weather . Our studio was on the 14th floor with stunning and i mean stunning views . we got the train all the way from Malaga airport to Los Boliches train station for less than 3 euro . You walk out of the station , walk towards the seafront - you will know you are going in the right direction because you have to go thru a small square with statue & kiddie park . Once you hit the seafront turn right and you cant fail to see the Stella Maris - its easily visible and is about a 10 minute walk in total from train to apartments .Check in was easy at reception . Our studio was on the 14th floor , facing the sea with views of los boliches , fuengirola and Benaldamena . Breath taking - seriously . The studio itself was spotlessly clean , Basic furniture and Furnishings , two single beds which i found comfortable . Flat screen tv ( which we never watched ) well furnished kitchen area , small table two chairs - also table and chairs on balcony . what more can one want ? well the bathroom was heaven for me , steaming hot water at all times , deep bath , decent shower - big in size comoared to rest of the studio . spotlessly clean . To be honest i am already planning to go back . The block was a mix of residents and tourist stays - we never heard a peep out of our neighbours . The pool was fab - its heated which was great and there was a huge and very inexpensive Mercadonna literally backing onto the Stella Maris . come out of reception , turn left and walk down the first road - its literally 60 seconds away if that . The mercadonna is built in , underneath some flats and up a ramp . Brilliant if self catering - so cheap and incredible choice . In fact i love los boliches as where else in europe can you get an English breakfast for 1.95 euro ? cheap and cheerful and i will be going back .

Just back after a 2 week stay at the Stella Maris and was very impressed with these apartments. We had a one bedroomed apartment on the 13th floor with stunning views and a gorgeous sunrise every day. We lost the sun about 2pm from the balcony but I could see this would be welcome shade when the weather is very hot. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have everything you need. Our aircon was very noisy and as soon as this was reported a new unit was fitted the next day. Have to mention Paco in reception who never failed to make us laugh and was helpful with information and advice. Cannot fault anyone who works here though, it is a great place in a fantastic location. There is a Mercadona supermarket directly behind the building which was extremely handy.

We stayed on 14th floor in a studio facing the front -amazing views! We could see the sunrise above the sea from our beds in the morning, which was bliss. The studio itself was small but homely and very clean, with everything you needed including microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee percolator, fridge and two hotplates for cooking. The bathroom itself was a good size.

Los Boliches is a great location, having a long clean sandy beach, plenty of shops, bars and cafes and a railway station - enabling you to go up and down the coast quite easily and cheaply. We travelled by train from/to Malaga Airport costing 5 euros for both of us one way instead of 40 euros for a taxi. We liked the location of the Stella Maris as it is halfway between Fuengirola and the centre of Los Boliches.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view. However the higher floors have less road noise.

The studio was compact and clean with a small balcony and great sea view, perhaps a tad on the small side! Excellent location for the bars and restaurants of Fuengirola. Although no parking on site we had no problems parking a short distance away. And finally - it was my wife's birthday during our stay, and a bottle of Cava and some chocolates were left discreetly in the room whilst we were out, a nice touch guys!

Was a lovely hotel very friendly and clean towels changed 3 times a wk and bedding.across the road from the beach has free wifi and English TV channels. Iceland is 5mins away in taxi if you have fussy children. Never used hotel pool as it was for adults no children's area.there's a restaurant down stairs to.

Room Tip: One bedroom apartment over looks the sea

The Stella Maris is officially three-star and pretty much lives up to its rating.
The apartment complex has 196 units, 14 on each its 14 floors, and EVERY apartment commands wonderful sea views.
Eight on each level are studios, while the other six (left and right corners and side) are one- or two-bedroomed. Best of all are 102 and 113 (202/213 etc as floors rise) followed by 101 and 114 (201/214) and 103/115.
If afternoon and early evening sun is your thing, choice is limited. Only 101 and 102 (01-02 all the way to the 14th floor) catch the rays that disappear from remaining balconies by mid-afternoon.
Most apartments belong to the Marcari SL real estate company, who over the years have sold over 50 Stella Maris units to private buyers.
The condition of these is obviously hit-and-miss, but as far as the rentals go, well, all have a full bathroom, kitchen, air conditioning, telephone, free WIFI access, TV and private terrace. Hard to fault given that modest star rating.
Biggest plus for me, apart from the views, was the fact that the swimming pool is heated and remains that way 12 months of the year. Nothing better than taking a late-afternoon dip in waters that did not make you wince.
Another plus was the library of books on the ground floor, maybe as many as 500 left by former guests and now available free of charge. Oh, add a friendly and helpful reception staff and you have a winning recipe for an enjoyable holiday.
My wife and I did not eat in the in-house restaurant, but choose instead to dine out as many times as we could afford. We found the Sandpiper best for breakfast. Not the cheapest but the best.
It would be hard to beat Don Jesus for a delicious dinner at a tasty price. The problem here is you have to book early –really early. I wandered along on October 1 and the first free table was October 12!
Almost directly back of the Stella Maris (left of the petrol station facing Mercadona) is El Jardin. If value is your thing, this place is unmissable. Five delicious tapas, a pint of lager and a coke were had for 8.10€. Sunday special here is paella.
The Stella Maris is the top-rated speciality lodging in Fuengirola with 92% of Trip Advisor guests giving it the thumbs-up. Easy to see why!

After a short wander around Malaga airport (which is very big) with my buddies we managed to find the exit and located the train station over the road. We took the 40min train journey at €2.60 each and we got off at Los Boliches, walked towards the sea, spotted the Stella Maris on the right and headed there. Check in was a little slow but the staff helpful and friendly. We were allocated rooms on the 9th floor and were immediately impressed by the views from the rooms. The rooms were clean and had everything you could need: most importantly, a fridge and aircon with wifi available for free too. Bathrooms were fine too though the whole apartment was fairly compact but did have the advantage of a decent balcony. For the price we paid it was excellent value for money.

Fuengirola was much better than we anticipated with plenty of bars with good beer and food available everywhere at reasonable prices. The resort is fairly sprawling but easy enough to walk around. We were lucky with the weather too which obviously helped.
