“Fabulous fish and seafood”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

I love this place! The best fish and seafood always fresh and always consistently yummie.
The coldest beer to start, the hardest part is to decide what to order.....everything is so good. Not fancy just the best food not messed with.

“Good food in small expensive portions”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

This is certainly a place where seafood has always quality and freshness. I have known this bistro for over 20 years and they have always paid much attention to service and quality. However they have been taking advantage of their reputation to decrease the amount of food served although keeping or even rising their high prices (in respect of other local bars).
I love the food and the service, but I think they have at least one waiter too much and they could have better prices if they had less staff.
Still I highly recommend the place for seafood lovers.

“Fish Lovers Paradise”
Reviewed 11 May 2014 via mobile

Unpretentious restaurant, very busy and popular with the Spanish. A good range of seafood on offer, displayed in cold cabinets. A must if seafood is required.

“Top quality seafood, amazing value”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

This is such a non-descript-looking little place, on the corner of the Avenida de Mijas a stone's-throw from the RENFE station and the market, that you might easily ignore it. Don't make that mistake! It may look like a scruffy workman's café but the food here was the best we ate in Fuengirola and at a price you would expect to pay in, well, a scruffy workman's café. Fresh seafood is on display at the counter. Take a seat at the bar, or round one of the plastic tables and order whatever looks best. We had camerones (baby prawns), seafood fritters, grilled octopus, deep fried squid, razor clams, baby red mullet and, star of the show, "lenguado a la plancha" - as perfect a simply grilled sole as I have ever eaten, anywhere. Service was friendly, efficient and completely unpretentious. The wine list is very short but includes my favourite manzanilla. There is also super-chilled Cruzcampo beer. The bill came to so little we laughed out loud. Closed on Mondays. I don't like Mondays!

“Belated review”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

Having just reviewed La Paradeta in Barcelona, I was prompted to review this place which I'd say is one of my favourite restaurants in the world. Simple seafood, cooked on a "plancha" ... hot iron grill plate by (on the many occasions I've visited) a big sweaty chef. The furnishings are basic but clean. It's always busy. Sundays are the best fun when the locals are out in their finery (which is akin to getting the glad rags on for a greasy spoon).
When the food comes though...just awesome. Whatever the chef chucks onto the surf clams, I want some at home. They are called Coquinas on the menu (Tallerenas in other parts of Spain)...there isn't much to them but you find yourself sucking on the shells, long after the tiny morsels have been devoured.
The grilled octopus is superb,,,,,ditto the Navajas (razor clams). The Patatas Bravas are the best I've had anywhere....including the Madrid restaurant that claims to be the originator.

It's not pretty, flash, posh or any of that. It is just brilliant. (And it is La Paz Garrido).
