“Gorgeous beach... beware the waves!”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Despite nearly drowning I really love this beach. Lots of chiringuitos and space to relax. Just mind the tide...

“Beautiful area”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Too many steps back up to the apartments, they need a lift installed!! Also a lot of drilling around the pool area from apartments being refurbished close by.
We did not choose the right apartment, no air conditioning nor balcony but others looked superb with most having sea views. There was no supermarket on the complex just a few bits and pieces in the bar so disappointed as we had seen from other reviews that there was fresh bread, milk etc available. Also, did we miss the Cave Bar as didn't find it! The restaurant/bar is expensive but the food is quite good and they serve beach snacks like toasties sandwiches, also smoothies. We went to eat in the evening at 9.15 but it was closed which seemed odd as even in June it was very busy in the complex, so can't comment on evening meals. There seems to be a little irritability from the bar staff as my daughter was told off for putting a toe on another pool chair (plastic) and chairs are moved instantly if out of alignment!

Beautiful flowers and lakes leading down to the beach and many restaurants and shops on the beach front. Sun loungers available at reasonable rates. Only 1 euro by regular bus stopping outside the complex entrance, Nerja town is very nice, still retaining a true Spanish feel and lovely narrow streets with lots of shops.

Sunshine every day! So needed after the miserable English weather. A relaxing break overall.

“Not sure!”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Partly decided by weather which was seasonably unsure so cloudy, overcast in April 2013, lots of refurbishment work going on, so noisy. Lots steps to be negotiated to beach and pool. If you choose this complex, choose top floor appartments. Ensure you check out with owner/complex/holiday company whether there is a likely refurbishment going on. We arrived to find that the appartment immediately below us was having a complete refurbishment, involving removal of tiles, continual hammering, drilling etc. Sad! we had been before with no such problems, but the age of complex suggests there will be continual refurbishment. Will not go again. Proximity to beach good, Nerja good! but Capistrano not consistent standards.

“Wonderful Nerja”
Reviewed 15 April 2013

Just returned from a week in Nerja, staying in an apartment at Capistrano Playa. Nerja really is a gem: a small family resort with a delightful Spanish town at it's core. The narrow streets are full of interest at any time of day, there are several good beaches, a range of accommodation to suit all tastes and many excellent bars, cafes and restaurants.
The one note of caution is amply illustrated by the urbanisation at Capistrano Playa.Nerja sits on a series of cliffs dissected by deep valleys or "barrancas" which mean steep climbs abound around the town, and which may prove difficult for the less mobile or families with very young kids. Our apartment at Capistrano Playa sat at the very top of the complex which meant a long, steep climb back up from nearby Burriana Beach.and havoc for my dodgy knees....although the stunning views over the bay were a fair reward!
Capistrano Playa is an excellent choice if the steep slope is not an issue;if it is, then try the more accessible El Capistrano (Capistrano Village), our favourite place to stay in Nerja
