We were welcomed by Joe (JJ Rentals) at the villa on arrival. He showed us around the fantastic and well equipped, clean villa. There are good views of the sea and mountains although it is surrounded and overlooked by other villas. It has a driveway behind secure gates to park your car. The pool is a nice size and regularly maintained, again very clean. Terrace outside has 6 old beach style sun loungers but they have quality cushions which make them very comfortable. Large beach towels are also provided. Outside, the dining table seats 6 has a giant parasol for shade. Plus there are 2 smaller round tables with 2 chairs each. A large brick built BBQ is great plus all the BBQ tools provided.
Excellent quality kitchen with just about every utensil you'll need for your stay...also a bluetooth speaker. The lounge has a 3 piece leather suite and a dining table with 6 chairs. Excellent free WIFI covers the whole Villa, even outside. The TV has plenty of channels when you figure out how to use all the different devices attached...Apple TV for Netflix and an Android Box for IPTV channels + Blueray player...lots of remotes.
All the bedrooms have very comfortable beds and all have ensuite rooms, which is great. 1 double bedroom on the ground floor just off the kitchen, and 2 bedrooms upstairs 1 double and 1 twin. One of the bedrooms has a bath (upstairs twin room) and all the others have ensuite showers. In the large basement there is a double bed a single bed, and a sofa bed if needed. There is also an Apple desktop computer and a second large fridge freezer in this room which was great for the kids. The washing machine is located in the basement ensuite too, which is ideal. All the towels and linen were provided and the maids came to change the bedding and towels once during our 2 week stay.
The villa is situated on a hill and the walk down to the beach could be difficult for the less mobile. The beach itself is very pebbly and really hurt your feet if you wanted to paddle in the sea.....but the views are amazing!
There are a few restaurants close by and within walking distance, and I'd recommend Punta Lara bar - very friendly. No shops close by but plenty of supermarkets in Nerja, about 3km away. Nerja itself is lovely and plenty to do - lots of sights to see and great restaurants.
Overall this is an excellent quality villa but has a few minor niggles.
There are security cameras all around the villa, including inside!!! Just felt like we were being watched at times......Are they connected to WIFI ?
A real let-down was the Air conditioning, which wasn't great. Each room had its own unit but they were all set at a certain temperature by the owners. At a time when there was a heatwave across Spain and temperatures were very high - we had no control over the temperature or the fan speed, and this would have been beneficial. The one in the lounge was very poor indeed, and at times, seemed to be blowing out warm air!!! If you left the room the aircon would turn itself off, even if someone else was in the room. We appreciate that this was to stop people leaving it on all day, but it wasn't that effective even when we were in the room which was disappointing. The only aircon unit which worked effectively was in the double bedroom upstairs, lovely and cool, but again no controls for us to use.
Although this villla is advertised as a 4 bedroom villa, we would say this is better described as a 3 bedroom villa, with a basement. The basement is very damp and a bit stuffy and not great for anyone sleeping down there. We were advised to try and leave the small window open.... but the Mosquitos would quickly come in and create a further problem! A full case of Mosquito repellent is recommended, which is not something we've experienced in Spain before.
The quality of this villa and its furniture and fixings is really outstanding and if it was advertised as a 3 Bedroom villa with a basement and fully operable Air conditioning I would have easily given 5 stars.
I would highly recommend this villa to anyone, providing the problems above are sorted, but at the moment its really only suitable for 6 people.
