We enjoyed a last-minute 5-day break here and everything was fine - the staff were welcoming and helpful - although the Hotel itself seemed just a little "tired" - but clean and comfortable throughout.

Although it's right on the seafront, be aware it's on the westerly edge of Nerja, so a bit of a gentle stroll into town - and the general surroundings weren't as attractive as Burrianna Beach, which we discovered later in our stay on the far-other side of town.

What threw us completely was the "restaurant" - a strange semi-basement room with no view whatsover, brightly lit and with a "canteen" style table layout. Maybe our expectations were too high and this dining style might be normal for this neck of the woods, and once we came to terms with the lack of intimacy and any thought of a romantic dinner a deux, the simple, unimaginative buffet each night provided decent subsistence-style fodder. (As the week went on we were even able to laugh at our over-ambitious request for a wine list on our first night, which was clearly unfulfillable!) It could have been worse however - because at least the tables were dressed with real linen tablecloths/napkins and the service was professional and friendly.

Have to also mention the surprise benefit of the astounding Easter religious parades through the town PLUS being only 90 minutes drive from the Sierra Nevada - so on impulse, we were able to go snow-skiing for a day, with a local guide taking care of everything, including Hotel pick-up - a genuine ski and sea experience which we also enjoyed.

We stayed in the Perla Marina for four nights. We chose it as an alternative hotel to the nearby Riu Monica, after Riu cancelled our booking with only four days notice (see my review on the Riu Monica for more details).

The sea view room was of a good standard and very quiet. However, apart from two Spanish and Portuguese coach parties, the hotel was nearly deserted. One evening we were the only couple for the buffet dinner. Obviously this lack of guests restricted the choice of food available. The plates were cold, which made the meal even cooler. The Dining Room lacked atmosphere as it was located in the basement.

It would have been much better to have only booked Bed and Breakfast at this time of the year.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms in the main block worth the extra for the view and quietness. Don't have half board in the Winter due to the lack of guests.

Stayed here from Boxing Day to jan 2, 2013.

The good:
1. The seaside apartments have a truly wonderful location (I stayed in no. 18)
2. apartments are spacious
3. Reception staff are good

The bad:
1. The food was not quite 4 star standard. The deserts in particular were poor.
2. The rooms are in urgent need of refurbishment.
3. The male bar staff are slow.
4. The streets surrounding the hotel and the promenade are covered in dog poo (more a criticism of an otherwise excellent Nerja)

Stayed: December 2012, travelled with family

I feel this is not a 4* Hotel. Bar Staff very rude and very poor food selection. Choices were white fish, chicken legs or pasta all dried up. 1 night was enough. However views were lovely and rooms were clean.

We stayed in this hotel for a short week. The location is awsome: cross the boulevard and you are on the beach. We rented chairs most of the days and we totally relaxed. The walk to the city centre is about 10min, but great to do when the sun sets.
The hotel it self is not very well maintained. The rooms are clean but old, renovation is needed. Quality of the breakfast was not 4-star-like. Reception staff was very friendly, bar staff less.
Conclusion; go there if you want to have a quite, relaxed beach holiday go there. If the hotel would renovate its rooms, etc. i would go back.

Room Tip: see view is worth the effort. Not to close to underneath terrace (noisy)
