“Great location, lovely people, beautiful weather!”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Me and my girlfriend decided to up sticks and on recommendation, move to Nerja for 6 months. We have been staying at Capistrano Village for 5 weeks now.

Reading through the reviews, I noticed that some have had an issue with the location so I can only assume they have been taking some unusual routes into town...Burianna beach is a leisurely 15 minute walk and from there you can walk along the beach front and into the Balcon in 10 minutes. There is however a bus that runs every hour until about 22:30 so getting around really isn't a struggle.

The supermarket is opposite the complex and the bar/restaurant on site is very nice. Great food and the owner - Nigel - is very welcoming.

The complex is well maintained with 2 lovely pools and whilst pretty quiet is just a short journey into town where most of the bars start getting busy by midnight.

I'd absolutely recommend this place to young and old. It's fantastic!

Beautiful place flowers trees pools but if u don't have a car you'll have no legs. About an hours walk to get to edge of town You can get a bus which runs every hour except lunchtime and finishes at 8. It takes u to torrecilla and u can walk in to town from there. I love walking but this was really taxing. We were lucky as u can get an apartment in any of the villages San Juan de Capistano, Capistano Village or Oasis de Capistrano we got the later lovely holiday but do get a car

We stayed in El Capistrano Oasis, which is quite near the pool and side bar. We were there from the 12th of April until the 18th. We had everything we needed in the appartment (including even various reading books, appliances-oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge freezer and also a dvd played).
It is a really quiet and relaxing appartment to stay in jt and also during this time, one could sunbath in the terrace which was quite large with 4 chairs, a table and a deckchair. Cleaners and gardeners are always on the go and are very friendly smiling and talking to you.
I recommend this villa to everyone who is planning a stay in Nerja. By car there is only a 5min drive to the supermarket, about 10 minutes to the centre and around an hour to Malaga.

This complex is a really nice place to stay, a touch quiet but if you want peace then this is the place to be! Arriving around 13:00pm check in was pretty simple, was abit worried incase they didnt have my booking but all was in ok.
The gentleman who checked us in explained on a map where every thing was and showing us where the town is and the best ways to get there and where to go - he gave us a lift to the house we was staying at in his car but unfortunately he wasnt looking where he was going and went straight in the side of another car i did have a few cuts but was more supprised that he never checked if we was ok but i guess he was shook up himself but he just left us, checked the car and went off to reception! he then got another car to take us - we did have a british local come over to us and offer to take us so the people round the area are very nice indeed. i must point out that he did apologise everytime we saw him but i was just shocked at the situation - the place itself was stunning, we was given a place with its own garden and one bedroom even though i booked a studio - maybe the guy at reception upgraded us? but the views was breath taking and we only paid about £33.00 a night.
the town is about 30 minute walk and the hill's are a bit tough - they have a local market on a monday and tuesday in torrex which isnt too bad and torrex is about 15 minutes drive, we didnt book transfers from the airport so it cost us 70 euro's to get there as out flight was at 06:00am but the reception will get you a taxi for anything you need. i will 100 % be going back to this place in the next few months the only small thing is you need to pay 20 euros which you get back to use the pool - and they give you a pool pass but no body asks for it! the beach is about 20 minutes walk and its really nice and clean and gets really busy! but all in all this is a great place to stay.

Don't really understand the negativity of some of the other reviews, all I would say is research the place before you decide to stay and see if it is for you. I would highly recommend getting a car - we didn't! The complex is huge (we decided to walk back the first night and got lost for 2 hours as it all looks the same) and it is a bit of a walk from the main town (about 20mins - but the hills back are a killer) but we really enjoyed the walking and stopping half way for a drink etc... There is also a bus that comes regularly and charges a €1 into town and taxis aren't too pricey

The apartments are great for the price with full catering/TV - the pool is huge (you do have to pay for the beds, but that isn't a concern for me because at hotels you don't you need to pay you have to lay there from 6am to get one) and we had no problems deposits or passes. There is a little shop with bits and bobs (there is a supermarket close, but again this is at the bottom of the gigantic hill near the Olympic ground) and the village itself is well kept (with the occasional friendly goat) and lovely views (we were right at the top)

I can see how people had issues with the booking/reception as there is a few in operation and it is very confusing, but our guy was brilliant - he gave us a lift in his car and then picked us up to take us to the drop-off point for our transfer. All in all it is one of the best places i've stayed in Spain - I guess it depends what you want from a holiday, it is very Villa style in once you're there your left to your own plans.

We stayed in Capistrano for a month using it as a base for exploring the mountains in
the area. It was a public holiday when we arrived so the office was closed. We did manage to get the keys which had been left in a key safe for us,but the man in the office was very rude . The apartment had a very strong smell of drains which we did solve using fresh lemons. We also found crockery than had been put away without washing it first.
The apartment was well equipped and we cooked loads of great meals .
In the Winter only one pool is open.
The worse aspect of the stay was that after three days the builders moved in next door to gut the apartment and the noise was awful. We did ask the office for help but was told it was our fault for coming on holiday in the Winter.
We are going to return to the area next Winter but will be much more careful where we stay next time

Room Tip: Try to make sure before you book that no building work is going to be occurring

We've been visiting Nerja for years and really love the area. The traditional paella on the beach is amazing and the town is first class. There's always so much going on and there are tonnes if great restaurants and street entertainment for the kids. The sea is great, but it's a 5-10 min drive from the village. The local supermarket is well stocked with lots of traditional UK items if you're worried about self catering. There are also great drives in birth directions along the coast with the palace and caves of Nerja if you go east, to go cart racing and the major cities if you go west. We hired a car and picked it up from the airport. Would definitely get at least a 1.4 as with air con on and steep hills, anything less just feels really sluggish.
