Ok needs a refurb but they are doing this, clean, local, well positioned hotel used a lot for wedding parties, staff re really friendly, small quiet pool, only currently do half board but with local restaurants more than enough to make up for it. On a bit of a hill so the walk back from the sea is not for the faint hearted but there is a train to the beach. Food is adequate and different each day. There is a small shop opposite, very helpful guy, sells maps and gives out good directions for those adventurous people. Heard you can get a train to ronda, we drove and roads on side of mountain so not for the faint hearted, as know now about train will consider next time, roads to cordoba are excellent

Nerja is one of the nicest resorts on the Spanish mainland. It is the antithesis of Benidorm, classy, upmarket and international. It is spotlessly clean and has varied hotels. apartments and restaurants. The Villa Flamenca is a very good value 3 star hotel in a quiet part of town. It is looking a bit tired but is due a mojor refurbishment soon. Let's hope the prices don't go up accordingly. The food is plentiful and varied, the service charming and it is a homely very Spanish hotel. On the downside the rooms can be small, the pool area isn't big enough to accomodate enough sun beds, and there isn't enough shade. It is a long walk up and down to a variety of splendid beaches, and the evening entertainment isn't quite Las Vegas. BUt for a nice family atmosphere in a safe resort at affordable prices this hotel is difficult to beat. In the end you get what you pay for and if you want something a bit more upmarket you would have to pay significantly more for the pleasure.

Room Tip: The best rooms are definitely in the annexe.

Stayed here for 11 days in early July. A smaller hotel than the usual Hotels we stay at, but what it lacked in size and amenities it more than made up for in the friendly ambience of the Hotel, and the very Spanish feel it had.

Nice position with a lovely gentle walk down to the Balcon area, but although we are good walkers, we found that the walk back from Burianna beach a killer, especially in the fierce July heat.

It was what we expected of a 3* hotel. It does need updating, but it was clean and there was a good choice of food which was of a good quality.

They need more sunbeds and umbrellas, and more could be done with the sun bathing area around the pool, as a large part of it was just clay, so more than half of the sunbathing area wasn't used.

They could definitely make more of the roof terrace, as although there were plenty of sunbeds there was no shade at all, so lying out was impossible unless you wanted to risk sunstroke. Some umbrellas or shade of some sort would make a huge difference here, and would be nice for those who want to relax in peace and quiet away from the pool area.

Overall however this was good value for money, and Nerja is a lovely place and is more Spanish than anywhere else we have stayed in Spain. When we return to this area we would have no hesitation in booking again at the Villa Flamenca .

Room Tip: We requested and got a Pool facing room, but on reflection would have preferred a high floor at the...

Been visiting this hotel for about five years. Although a 3 star hotel it was clean with a lovely pool area and good food. All change this year! The rooms are not just tired but neglected! Black out curtains in our room (204) had so many holes looked like a machine gun had been used. Material curtains were hanging off the rail. Toilet seat fell off although was repaired fairly quickly. Carpets on stairs and hallways were filthy. The food in restaurant was very poor - over cooked meat/chicken and very mushy vegetables. Starters were soup, soup or soup because salad bar only offered lettuce and shredded carrot and beetroot. The odd stuffed egg appeared but only once on the 2 nights we suffered it. Ordered a bottle of white wine and when we asked for ice bucket since temp was 30 deg, head waiter pointed out that wine was already cold !!! Biggest disappointment was pool area. Basket chairs were mostly broken and pool area was not clean. We watched a maintenance man yesterday morning use a grinder at side of pool then hose all the dust into the pool! Such a shame it has been allowed to deteriorate so much because we really enjoyed this hotel. We had booked half board but ate out for 5 nights. Staff at hotel are still very helpful and maids do a good job given state of the rooms. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Room Tip: If you do use this inexpensive hotel ask for rooms in newer annexe they seem to be better maintained...

Lovely small and friendly hotel and we would be happy to return again. The rooms were spotlessly clean, as were all the public areas and pool. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Some previous reviews are quite negative, yes the rooms are on the small side and are a bit dated (although please note our room had new beds and a new TV) but since we did not sit in our rooms all day nor watch TV it really didn't matter. The many positves far outweighed any minor negatives and this hotel is great value for money.

Been visiting nerja for 14+ years and this is the first time we have stayed here.
Very impressed, the staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed room only but tried bar food which was lovely and heard plenty of other reviews on how good the food was.
Location fantastic, perfect for burriana beach though still a sharp steep hill back its alot easier to manage. Brilliant, flat walk to the town and amazing views. Although seen them all many times they still amaze us are are fab to see again.
Overall our only disappointment is that we didn't find this place sooner. We will definitely be coming to stay here again.

We decided to return as we liked this hotel and love the area that it is situated in. We had a nice room with a large balcony which was great and the torn, worn out curtains and bed base didn't detract from us having a great time. But they are apparently upgrading the rooms this winter. The public areas are kept really clean but our room could have been cleaned better especially the bathroom but as it was very clean when we first arrived it was at least our own dirt I suppose! There was a notice in reception saying that sheets are only changed once during your stay but as some people only stay a few nights or a week I had hoped that as we were staying two weeks it might have been twice but it wasn't! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food was very good both at breakfast and dinner, always hot and replenished all the time with several choices. Entertainment was exactly the same as 9 years ago even some of the routines "One wheel on my wagon" isn't really our cup of tea then or now!!!!! The Neil Diamond tribute man is dire and couldn't even sing in tune. It is such a shame as the hotel is empty of an evening and could be much livelier if they had some more up to date acts. Apparently there was a better one on a Wednesday but we were out so didn't see him. The flamenco dancers were good on the Saturday but again very few people stayed in to watch. There is a lovely roof terrace which would make a great bar area to watch the sun go down but is hardly used even though there are lots of sunbeds up there, we sometimes took our own wine up there to enjoy before going into dinner. The door to the pool was opened at 9am and we watched from our balcony as the sad people rushed to to save sunbeds, with some not even using them until late pm! We prefered to sit on the balcony reading then go to one of the many beaches in Nerja which are much cooler before returning late afternoon when there were usually beds available and if not plenty of chairs were by the pool. The pool is lovely for swimming and much warmer than the sea which was very cold especially at Burriana! We walked into the Balcon area every day with several different routes you can take for a change. It is a beautiful area with lots going on when we were there. The walk down to Burriana beach is a bit steep as we remembered but we also used the zig zag path sometimes which although further to walk isn't such a climb. We love Nerja and the Villa Flamenca is a lovely hotel and although it needs refurbishing hopefully they won't put the prices up and then we might visit again in the future.
