This is the second time we have stayed here. The first time by accident as the villa we had booked had rats and we had to leave it. Anyway, we managed to get a booking for a week. I wasn't particularly impressed at the outside of the building but boy did my opinion change once we got inside. The room we were allocated had a beautiful view over The gardens, pool, sea and coastline. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was a joy. Self service with plenty to choose from. Eating outside or in as is your preference, we chose outside. Tables set on a patio area looking out to the sea. Snacks were easy to obtain. The sunbeds were space out with umbrellas although we did notice after breakfast nearly everyone collected a towel and bagged their favour sunbed. The pool is fantastic. Another bonus for Parador users is a private lift down to Burriana beach. The beach is shingle. The lift is not available after eight on an evening. Somifnyiu decided to have dinner there you have to make sure you get back in time or face a hot walk. Easy access into the town of Nerja itself. Probably about a 15 to 20 min easy stroll. Would not have any hesitation in recommending the Parador. . By far the best that we have stayed in so far and we have stayed in a few others. If you become a friend of the Paradors you can save up points from your visits and get free nights, which we did on this visit.

Room tip: Ask for sea view from either 2nd or 3rd floor.

Have just returned from one week at the Parador. Read the reviews and have to say they all lived up to the comments. Beautiful hotel , please do not put a gym etc in,will change clientele,it has charm about it. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast great. Fantastic views and so relaxing in garden.
Only gripe, couldn't believe the cheek of some guests, would take sunbeds early in morning and not turn up until early afternoon.....selfish, also some took 4 beds , 2 in sun and 2 out...these people ruin the holiday for others with their me me attitude. We are all on holiday let's be polite and courteous .......I think staff should remove their towels etc to be fair to all guests........just a thought

Spending 5 nights here after visiting other paradors. We have visited this parador many times over the years and it never fails to charm us.
Interested to learn that there is now no fixed date for the previous planned closure that was meant to completely update the parador. It is our view that while some tweaking is needed to modernise the facilities, such as remodelling of bathrooms, beware of a total overhaul that takes away the charm that frequent visitors, like ourselves, so enjoy. We are gym users at home but do not really see why a gym is required in this parador. Enjoy a walk to Maro and cool off afterwards in the pool!
One thing we have noticed on this trip is the greater number of visitors employing the bath towels on sun beds ploy - leading to more and more doing so the next day .......and the next. Sat on our balcony this morning around 7.00 am and already 3 lots of double sun beds had been claimed, much to the annoyance of the gardeners who arrived at 8.00 to cut the grass.

I have been visiting el Parador de Nerja for 40 years and have observed the transformation over time. It was a great place to stay 40 years ago - although much less populated nearby- as it is today. It is unpretentious consistently very good place to stay. We had a corner room with great view of the ocean and a large balcony. The staff is friendly and helpful and most speak English as well as there are many British visitors. Some staff members speak German and French. A great place to stay and within easy walking distance of the beach where you can get paella cooked over wood fire and tapas. Also within walking distance is Nerja's city center with very good restaurants such as Bakus and Oliva as well as smaller restaurants that have great food. Parador de Nerja is one of our favorite places to stay.

Excellent location for a hotel that only lacks a spa and a gym to make it a wonderful place for a truly tranquil and relaxing stay. Excellent quality food and wines, spotless rooms, in the main very attentive and friendly staff even if at time service at dinner rather variable in speed.
