My wifeand I stayed for a night at the Paraiso en route to Malaga Airport at the end of our holiday. It was late in the day when we found it, quite by accident, but what a fortuitous choice! The receptionist made us feel very welcome and gave us some excellent recommendations for an evening meal. Our room was very comfortable and the foamy jacuzzi an experience! Even more surprising was the view from the dining room the next morning. To cap it all, we also had champagne, cake, chocolates and a red rose to mark St Valentine's day! This hotel can do no wrong and we will certainly be back should we be along that part of the Costa again.

We booked this hotel based on the glowing reviews on the Trip Advisor site. I use the site for almost all new reservations and in general have been very happy with choices and recommendations
However this time I feel the hotel and reviews were both disappointing
The hotel is a 2 star and more than a little dated
Our room was down stairs - very small and dodgy air conditioning
It was also noisy in the morning as it was near reception and we were woken to every phone call conversation etc
Breakfast was poor and again disappointed after all the reviews
We ended up leaving as we were so disappointed and couldnt bear 2 weeks in the heat and tiny room

We loved this hotel! The staff were great! Friendly and helpful. We had a 'junior suite' for a week with a roof terrace that overlooked the sea and gardens. We could also see the Parador next door - and felt very smug about our choice!
Breakfast was great - cooked if you wanted it, or pastries, rolls, cheese, ham, yoghurts, cereal and masses of fruit. No complaints about the juice either!
A profusion of scented flowers everywhere in the lovely gardens. The pool is small but clean - we used it more to cool off than to swim. There are loads of sunbeds/umbrellas including some on terraces adjoining the steps that lead down to the sea - an easy walk down but somehow the last flight of steps always seemed just one too many coming up - so places to sit were quite welcome.
The beach below is good (although coarse sand/pebble) and has great beach BBQ restaurants. We recommend the Moreno for the fish and the Ayo for the staff! The latter is a huge place, buzzing with Spanish tourists, where the waiting staff actually run everywhere. The food is simple but good.
It's an easy and pleasant walk into Nerja itself which was very busy in the evenings.
Altogether great, relaxing holiday - largely due to the splendid hotel. We'll be back!

I visited the Hotel Parasio del Mar upon the recommendation of the Tom Tom in my hire car. I had been driving around a little bit lost in Nerja when I decided to call it a day and find somewhere to stay.

My girlfriend and I were greeted at the white washed hotel by the friendly owner who showed us the various rooms from their basic room to their luxury rooms with Jacuzzis and roof terraces. All of the rooms had leather sofas, marble bathrooms and good quality fittings. The rooms did look a little dated however they were clean and well maintained.

We opted to stay in one of the more expensive rooms with a roof terrace. From the terrace we had views over to the sea and to the garden with its various fruit trees. The owner kindly gave us some fresh strawberries and cava to enjoy in the room.

Breakfast was included and consisted of a simple continental breakfast served in the dining room and outside on the terrace both with nice views over the sea.

Parking at the hotel is situated in a small underground car park that is accessed via a car lift. The staff helped with the operation of the car lift and parking of the car. On the final day the owner offered to reverse the car out of the car park and onto the lift. This was a relief as my reversing skills in hire cars still needs some work.

The staff spoke many different languages and I overheard some other guest talking to the staff about how they had been visiting the hotel for many years. The staff also recommended a nice restaurant for us to visit within Nerja’s town centre.

The view from this hotel is extraordinary. Truly. It's possible we had the best room, which didn't hurt. In addition, the owner hosted a complimentary paella party for all guests the second night of our stay. That experience alone is enough for 5 stars. He is a great host who loves life and speaks at least 5 languages. As he cooked the paella outside during sunset, he taught us his recipe and gave us the history of the dish. Then during the meal, he sang us songs on the guitar from all of our native countries. And there were 5 countries represented at the dinner! Even though the hotel's decor is a bit 80s and our room's A/C could've worked a little better, we didn't care - we had such a great time staying here. Plus, the location is just great.

Just back from a week in the Paraiso del Mar - we loved it. A lovely friendly welcome from Stephanie on the front desk, she first showed us around and then showed us to our room. It was very spacious, with a large bathroom complete with jacuzzi bath. The view outside though is the thing - it is incredible, I never tired of looking at it. The beautiful pool & garden area and then the med just beyond, fabulous. Breakfast in the mornings on the terrace was perfect, great coffee, lots of fruit, yoghurt cereals again, and fresh pastries.

Nerja itself is a lovely little town, friendly, with lots of shops and restaurants. We found a couple of restaurants we really liked - Don Toscana and Lizaranno (or something like that) which was a tapas bar near the Balcon de Europa (turn right instead of left). Also the Los Barillos bar became a quick favourite with us (near the Hotel Carrabeo).

To sum up, the hotel was lovely, great location and a friendly staff. The ONLY thing I would say, is that the room we were in was right beside where they had breakfast so we were woken up every morning by the noise of the staff setting up, if we go back, I'd ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor instead.

Finally, the hotel gave us a bottle of wine to thank us for our stay there, which I thought a lovely gesture.

What a fantastic hotel. On arrival we were greeted by the owner Enrico who gave us a personal tour of the property. There is a wonderful terrace overlooking the sea and beach where we had our breakfast. Our room which was the "best in the hotel" certainly lived up to it's name. Wonderful bathroom with a fantastic Jacussi , comfortable lounge, and a large bedroom with a balcony overlooking the sea. There is a private entrance to the beach with many steps, however there are terraces as you go down, to stop and catch your breath.
There was nothing we disliked at all about this hotel. We highly recommend it.
The hotel is only a short walk to Nerja town where all the restaurants and shopping are.
We can't wait until we return again
