“Nice for photos and there are some good walks nearby.”

Aqueduct of El Aguila
Reviewed 3 May 2014

I probably wouldn't bother going just for the aqueduct as once you have looked for 5 mins and taken a photo you have probably done it! However there are some lovely walks nearby. You can get a free book of walks from tourist information, the one to the cliffs of Maro goes from the bottom of the aqueduct through some amazing gardens. However- beware the maps are hand drawn and a bit tricky to follow. The aqueduct is also on the way to the caves, so worth a stop if you are going.

The photo shown on the opening page is of the El Aguila Aquaduct at Maro following its renovation. Here I have posted a photo that I took pre-renovation, and hope that this shows why there is some local controversy as to the success, or otherwise, of the work, IMHO it is still worth a visit, combining it with a visit to the famous caves.

One can't easily actually visit it- just stop on the roadside and take a few pictures. they should really arrange easy foot access to it

Caught the bus to Maro to see this amazing sight. Wonderful piece of architecture, an excellent chance to take some photos.

shame it is just in the middle of your bus ride to the Caves, and a long walk from Nerja, but stunning to see it.
